I was wondering if someone could make a website script that would display the track the server is racing on from birds-eye-view and have dots moving on the overlay representing the cars in-game. Also when people hover their mouse on the dots it should display the name of the racer, maybe his/her record on that track and the car he/she is driving.

One reason that I can come up with as to why this may be impossible to make would be the constant querying that the master server would get from the script.

What do you guys think?

1) resources ... massive load! It would be basically connecting to the server anyway *insert headscratching*
2) the wait isnt long if its down anyway before its up
3) a simpler way is to when you start LFS is it to connect instantly to master server thingy and tell you if its up or not

sounds *hears the insults coming* like Test drive unlimited, which has stolen a) my DFP *OMFG* (for money) and b) my time.
That has a map thingy like what you say, but if you think about it .. no-one has dial up, or a cruddy 128 ISDN thingy. They all have the same system, with no real limit on possibly thingys what the 3x Processors can run.

Maybe for S3 ...?

ok its not a website, but doesnt LFS Spectator do almost the same thing? Possible to perhaps have that displayed through a website.. kinda thing..

I dont think the master server would be involved once the thing is connected, so it would probably require it running on the server itself. Then all the server does it output the data to web.

I think the problem here is, as S14 Drift mentioned, is that it would seriously hog the server to have a constant stream, so perhaps an update every so often would be do-able. Much like those nasty webcams that update every few seconds or so.

We all know master Filur is more then capable of coding such a thing, but would he do it? And who would this really benefit? Given that there is already something available that basically does the same thing without the live web output of course

It would be great to have a live stream thingie on team's websites.
For example, in my team we have S2 Licenced + Demo users. I think it would motivate demo users alot to buy an S2 Licence when they watch us licenced people race (even as small dots) and they cant join (they would see the lap times and etc, and see how faster the licenced cars are + all the available tracks). Also, this would help evitate extra people connecting to the server just for spectating. I dont think its gonna eat up alot of resources, so..
any1 capable doing it?
