ffs someone lock this thread
Quote from c0nv1ct :How does anything i said relate to RWD or FWD? RWD and FWD have nothing to do with this thread what-so-ever.

the point is that its stupid to use a different word for a 4wd system just because it uses a different diff (or rather none)
according to your logic a kart would be 2wd instead of rwd because it doesnt have a diff
Quote from Becky Rose :
There's another reason of course, which is to own a Land Rover style car and wear wellingtons on the high street whilst showing off the latest in knitted aarons.

Dont forget the MAIN reason for them....

PICKING THE KIDS UP FROM SCHOOL!

Ban 'Chelsea Tractors' from the roads and stick them in the fields where they belong!

Passed my theory test 35/35 (luckily no questions on the differences between 4WD and AWD came up)
Quote from duke_toaster :F1 would be 4WD if there wasn't a rule that only 2 wheels may be driven. There were in the 60's some experimental 4WD F1 cars that were soon banned.

Why did you feel the need to post and basically say exactly what two other people said?

Quote from c0nv1ct :I have 2 trucks in my driveway. A '98 Dodge Dakota, and a '93 GMC Typhoon. I consider the Dakota 4WD, since when I put it in 4WD the differentials lock, as i've noticed when making sharp turns when 4WD is on, as a previous poster noted. The Dakota, stock, is high off the ground, the 4WD is meant for offroad conditions. The Typhoon is AWD, tight turns cause no problems, and the truck is low to the ground. It's designed to have AWD for stable acceleration and cornering.

To me AWD and 4WD are different in that they are designed for 2 different things. 4WD to me means that its "off-road capable" and AWD means on-road stability. You might say these Subarus and such go offroad, as in dirt tracks etc. But IMO a dirt track is still a road, there are such things as dirt roads.

So does that mean my Rally Toyota Corrola AE20(4A-GE with T50 gearbox) Is a 4WD car becuase i can take it off road (Big Red was fun :P) even though it's a RWD car?

P.S. For u none aussie ppl Big red is the bigist sand dune in australia and the entry/exit to one of the hardest 4WD tracks in australia/world

Quote from ajp71 :There's no challenge in F1 today, far too clinical.

That's what I call car control, none of this paddle flicking, traction control nonsense.

F1 Is so chaliging becuase of the intensity of an open wheeler and the sheer G-Force there put under and still able to drive as well as they do in such a tight power band is pritty astrunomical. BTW the only 2 Classes i hold higher in skill is 2nd MotoGP 1st WRC (only becuase i like to drive on the dirty stuff :P)
