max tire flex?
There should be a max tire flex before the tire blows or gets ripped off the rim or something.
As you can presume from the picture below, there currently isn't.

You're right.

But first they have to make the tyres work better.

Because if you have bad luck, your tyre will be standing weird in a corner, and *poof* tyre gone :/

Have you actually seen tyres during extreme conditions. I can tell you they deform pretty much. Before you can ask: Sorry, I can't give you any video about this, but I have seen plenty of 1000fps videos where tyres are deformed. It's mainly about the metal deformation in that videos though

There is a vid doing the rounds of this years Bathurst. One car had a cam pointing at a tire and the huge flex that showed was not far off from your screen grab

Yes tires need a little work. Example if you flip the XFG sometimes if its on its side and you turn the wheel there will be a huge tire flex and the tire doesnt come off.

+1 for tires coming off rims bending would be cool too.
I do not feel the distortion is wrong for the pressures being run. I do feel that the pressures are incorrect for the thermal buildup they are currently making. Currently in the road tires they do not generate enough heat for a given pressure and in the slicks they generate too much heat for a given pressure. But yes when running low pressures or if you get a flat I think the tire sould be able to shread or come off the rims.

I think this will be adressed when the final damage model is built out.

Sorry but I cant think of a SINGLE instance in any motor sports I have watched over the past 20 years where a tire has been pulled off the rim during a race.

The only think I can think off was during some ice driving (Where they run big tires below 10psi) where I have seen this happen.

Please post a link to a report of this happening?
Thats because they are not forced to runn pressures soo low as to break the bead on the tires to get propper heating. Adding the ability to break the dead on a tire in LFS would encourge people to use more realistic pressure settings.

I meant that if we get a flat tire we would loose a tire. It sometimes happens.
how bout realistic flats?

ones that shred and u have a rim left.

Happens all the time in NASCAR when a tire goes flat. I'll post a vid of it if u want.

2001 Subway 300 Busch Series Talladega. Watch the blue 34 car. BTW i got this vid at tbk.fameflame.dk/phpBB2

When the tire is flat but the talk was about too much flex pulling tire off rim, just does not happen.

When the tire is flat it WILL happen.
Your right. Usually the tire would lose grip before it got pulled off the rim.
(Wow, I can't believed i sparked an intelligent conversation and
used 3 big words in one sentance! )
Who said tyres can't come off the rim in LFS?

I can, i've seen it happen once, and it was me that it happened to... It as actually a deffective rim that caused it, the rim collapsed under load whilst running hot and not only let the tyre off the rim, but also wrote off a crash helmet...
Quote from EvilVendingMachine :The thing is, those are street tires (high performance street tires but still)
on the xrt. They aren't supposed to flex like drag or race tires i don't beleive.

Drag tires have very flexible sidewalls, but road race tires generally do not. Also, the street tires in LFS have pretty tall sidewalls which would allow them to flex a lot.

I'm not sure if LFS models different sidewall stiffnesses for the different tire types or not, but I don't think the picture in the first post is too far from reality.

Ouch... I stand corrected
