Just got my MOMO : ), and I have a Q?
Hi everyone,

I just bought a MOMO wheel. Still getting used to it after a gamepad. It is amazing how much of a difference there is when you play LFS with a wheel WOW. Sorry just wanted to brag a little.
1. Do you guys use the paddles on the wheel to change the gears or the gear shifter?
2. Where can I check the revision of the wheel?

See ya on the track!!

Cheers!
1. I prefer and have always used the shifter. I use the paddles as my view left/right. It can be difficult to use the shifter in the BF1 though. I hate to mess around and change everything to use paddles in BF1, so I never run that car. Besides, I've used the paddles as view for so long, I'd probably get up beside someone and try to look to the side, and BAM, I'd be downshifting on the straight or something and crashing, hehe.

2. Revision numbers I believe would be on a label on one of the bags or something . Not sure, my wheel is definitely revision A as I've had it for over 2 years now.
Thanks mrodgers, I didn't even think of using it for views. I will give it a try today. Plus it`s probably more realistic to use shifter for changing gears.

Cheers!
Sure thing, Speedier. Though, I wouldn't say it is more realistic to use the shifter. Both can be found in various different types of cars. Paddles would be more realistic in open wheel cars, possibly in the large GTR's, but the shifter could be realistic in the GTR's as well. Neither the shifter nor the paddles would be realistic in any of the road cars as they would have a normal gated h-pattern shifter (ie, the Logitech G25). It just basically comes down to preference. I just prefer the shifter.

You should look into the scripting aspect of the latest patch, its possible for LFS to automatically change your settings so you paddle for gear change, and change it back when you use another car. It saves having to edit your controller config all the time.
The only problem I have with the gear shifter is when I am making a turn and have to gear up or down, I go for the shifter now I am holding the wheel with one hand and FF gerks the wheel and I am off spinning. Maybe I just have to get use to it since I have no problem driving with one hand in real world. But I like the shifter now.

Thanks!

I use paddles for shifting, Gear stick for handbrake and rear look.Other wheel buttons for horn, headlights, TC, Pit limiter, left and right look.
