P180 Cleaning
I know this is COMPLETELY random, but I was wondering, for anyone who has an Antec P180b case with STOCK fans, how often do you find yourself cleaning the filters? I was just curious cause I have to do it like once a WEEK and it's usually completely clogged. It's on the floor, but, more importantly, one of our cats pretty much LIVES in my room, and that makes a lot of dust-stuff. Just wanted some sort of comparison. And what speed settings are your fans set to also?
Cases on the floor, with a cat in the room.. yeah thats asking for trouble. The fans should still work very efficiently even at the lowest speed switch, the case is 'over cooled' if anything.

If you can put the case on.. perhaps a drawer cupboard, even if its only 30cm high, it will reduce dust buildup by half probably..

I don't use dust filters because it hinders the fan efficiency so much that the result is:
- higher fan speed
- is MORE dust... (contradicts the use of a filter)
- more noise..
- dust is nasty and will get in the case sooner or later anyway..

Apart from training the cat how to clean the pc, you're probably stuck doing it yourself.. I don't do that more often than once per month though. PC's can take quite a bit of dust unless you're really on the thermal limit.
Yea
Yea, I know all that stuff, I was just curious as to how other ppl were faring...
I have P180 case and my fans are set to medium. Also have a cat but I don't allow it in that room. Case is also on the floor, I clean the fan filters once a month.
Cheers!
Hijack!

OK this is weird, I just got a case in the mail, box says it's a P180B ("B" denoting black, I guess), just took it out and it looks like a P182 to me - it's got the raised motherboard tray with the access holes for wiring (and plastic ties on the back for tidying them), the two rubber grommets for water cooling pipes (in place of the P180's VGA cooler duct), and the side panels aren't black, they're the P182's "gun metal" finish.

Have I got a P182 or did they revise the design of the P180? I actually wanted a P182 but they were sold out - I'm pretty chuffed either way because I got all the fancy features!
The manual says it's a P180 too, but I'm sure it's not!

Just finished the build and driver install, waiting for Windows to format my partitions. This is a really lovely case, I managed to route all the power cables (except the PCI-E one, naturally) round the back so the only cabling in the front is the SATA data cables and the case front panel connectors, and they're all tucked neatly away in a gap between the two 3.5" drive bay cages so they're not obstructing air flow at all.

Mint!

Doubt I'm going to be able to install LFS until Sunday but I imagine it will go like shit off a stick.
Kev: the P182 has the same manual as the P180, even down to the "P180" on the front

Took me 3 days to find that out, thats dedication

j/k
