Warmup lap
Since were a way off the pace laps and such. maybe an alternative method should come into play.

For instance, you will get an alloted time, to drive around the track, in grid order with a set speed limit (50mph for example). And a time limit of lets say, 2 minutes. so, in this 2 minutes, warm your tyres up, driving side to side etc, then when the 2 minutes is up, the race auto-restarts, with the tempretures gained on the pace lap.

Just a quick thought.

That's kinda true, especially if it's a long race in GTRs, so you're using R3s. I don't think they can get hot enough to really make a difference from a cold lap; 50mph is not enough and weaving around doesn't really do anything in LFS.

However, if it was just a warm up lap for the look of it, it would make more sense. I suppose the speed could be auto-limited so there's no possibility of error during that lap, but what I fear is that people wouldn't know when to re accelerate at the end of the late, thus leading to unfair edges between the racers.
How about have the option to start in "Neigtive" laps? Example:
you start with -5/40 laps. Those negitive 5 laps can be used and driven at pitroad speed and use a pacecar for some events or just a warmup.

When your 1 lap from going into positive the pacecar goes into pits and just spectates or waits idling on the side of pits to not be in way (nascar style becuase of extra caution flags but since most people won't throw a caution flag just for a little incedent pacecar will spectate).

Thats one thing that could be implemented.

I don't know what car your used to driving. But weaving definitely works, I do it all the time. In the fox I can get the front tyres nice n green in about half lap (assuming I have the room), and the rears only take a few squirts of throttle in first gear...spin them up n they are yummy n green. Not full green mind you (entire tyre) but the surface. Enough to keep it on track.

I think its a good idea, though I'd like it a bit faster... 80 is ok.. do it on speed limiter. Trick is though; making sure with all that weaving, ppl don't get taken out.. easy to happen.

Isn't the pitroad limit already 80?
Faster than 80kph???

Most R/L series have it at 60 and some at 40kph (V8 Supercars)!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd love the pit lane speed limit to be customisable or lowered to 60kph.
this would be nice in a hardcore mode, very useful for league races

IMHO qualifying and race should start from the pits

and in the race the drivers takes their cars to the starting grid


that should be a option of course, do all those things for a 5 laps races wouldn't be very nice

but as long we dont get false starts that wouldn't work
I'd love formation laps to be drivable, and also proper false starts and so-on.
False starts could in theory be done via Insim's position coordinates.
