Earthquakes are fun as long as they aren't too big. Saw this on the news while eating breakfast seemed to cause some damage which shocked me abit that we can have them bad enough for damage.
I thought it was an earth tremour as it isn't a plate boundry and for earth quake needed to be due to plate tectonics?
hmm and?
i remember the last earthquake here, my damn house was shaking for quite a few seconds (and its rather big and build in the 70's afaik, so i was kinda scared) but after all nothing really bad/big happend.
im just glad we dont have these huge earthquakes like in the US.
When I did AS Geography (I failed but that's not the point) I was told that the Channel has thousands of earthquakes/tremors a year which obviously we don't feel. This one just happened a bit closer to the coast.
I've studied about Earthquake resistant design (ERD), and for what I know, here in Europe we shouldn't worry much about our security, at least in most of the cases
