Bring back Bug test servers
It was great fun on the bug test servers, 30 odd LX6's @ Westhill, no wreckers, drifters on kids pretending to go shopping or being policemen. Where have all the LX6's gone??

pS I'm at Westhill now, LX6 only
Team Eire Server is set to that combo now. LRF at WE1

Unfotunatley the quality of racing in the Bug Test Servers seemed to disitigrate after X was released. I guess it shows that those who post on the forums are good clean racers (with a few exceptions )
add a RAC and im in!

I was in CoRe LRF WE1R server few hours ago. At most there were 5 racers on server, 4 usually finished. LRF class isn't easy generally and at highspeed track like Westhill is double hard, so not a great combo for pick-up racing. But thanks to a certain dude I had a great time today .

Well that very combo had loads of great, clean racing on it during the test patches with full 32 car grids. Just seems that now the patch has been released there are too many idiots (who obviously didn't use the test patch) that the LRF servers degenerate into a massive crash fest and then the racing ones bugger off making way for the drift/novelty servers.
I think it would be a great idea if there could be some "official" LFS servers, like those bug test servers. If they could be moderated like this forum is, they can be very successful.

+1
I'll try to be around a bit tomorrow in the afternoon (evening in Europe) to admin the CoRe server. Hopefully we can get a decent crowd going.

Its sad, X comes out and we get 3x more racers using a patch compatible with the one we were on, and yet EVERYONE goes on Cruise, Drift or AS bloody National.

What has happened with the LFS i fell in love with?
I'm getting fed up with the boring same old combos people always play. GTR at Aston National or FOX on Blackwood, boooooring! There is always few more original servers, but they don't tend to get that popular and you end up racing alone in midfield. The ZWR&UKTC Bumberz (or was it diaperz or whatever) GT racingthingy was fun, although SO seems to get very very heavy with too much people on it.

Something should be done! I've been thinking forming a club to fight boring combos. Would you join guys?

Bumperz, tyvm!

Its fun racing, but atm we need an admin to continually check ballast loads, which gets VERY boring when i have a break from revision to fire up LFS :X Plus you always get the cheeky people who try 33% or similar. It's fun and makes a change, and we hope it will integrate well with "GT300" ("oooooh!" they all say)

We (UKCT) used to run the Odd Combo/Compo servers and LRF servers, but it now seems like people wanted to be on the bug test servers because "z0mg teh Scawen-z0rz!" and drove a combo they wouldn't usually. Then people joined that server becase it was full. Now everyone just wants the FOX or GTR's

Unfortunately SO is a little.... chaotic with the "GT Cadet" cars so they moved to AS Club, which imo is a bit stupid because that just highlights its lack of power, but in a league situation the "GT Cadet"'s could be quite fun at SO. The only other way of getting the Bumperz working properly (ie without an admin 24/7) would be to get it full (so everyone knows the rules), Password it (like we did) and tell everyone on the forum the Password, and just hope they follow the restrictions. At least we can check though (although the way some people act you'd think we couldn't!).

We've tried running the less used combo's, but no-one outside of the forum seems to want to try them. I'm all up for your "Anti-Boring Combo" club, but remember we did the same thing with the Odd Combo/Compo servers, and they were empty 90% of the time, and Compo only ever got active when a UKCT member went in - when they left it seemed to die again!

Shame UKCT is in no position to start hosting servers at the moment, although with 400 servers currently empty, is it more servers we really need?
Well yeah, the odd combo club was great blast long as it lasted. But somehow it died after a while. STCC servers might had something to do with it as they became a huge hit. But I'd say the time wasn't that good either, for me it seems that there is more people than ever before fed up with lack of interesting combos. It doesn't mean it has to be something like LX6 at Southicity sprint 1 rev which is an extremely fun combo and I had some great racing with few good drivers with it yesterday, but it's too challenging and difficult for most people, the car seems to be enough for too many actually. So basically you end up dueling.

Agreed on the server bit. I've for long thought that the amount of servers is ridiculous, most times there would be a server for every player online. That is just wasting of recourses in the same way that many servers are set to all cars and Blackwood with track voting disabled, utter stupidness and lack of interest by the server owners. I suppose it's the default setting, but in most cases disabling track vote is silly. You don't necessary need your own server for good racing, well there is no admin, but you can always change the Aston National to something else!

Own server is needed if you want different cars and I do miss LX4 racing, good but not difficult and overly underused car I think.

Maybe it's because i've got ties to the STCC/CTRA system, but at least with that it was never just one track and it changed - although now it's gone i can see exactly 0 servers running an "interesting" combo, and yet more BL and AS on the server list.

The LX4, like the XRG is a training car for a harder car, and if you can master the car above then no-one bothers with it anymore - it's only due to the STCC that the XRG is used, before it was chronically underused.

Yes, but I say majority of people can't handle the harder LX6. That is why they should drive LX4. It doesn't mean that "easier" cars are less fun, that is quite the opposite by racing point of view like presented by the Bumperz server yesterday.
Why don't make a private server and post the password here on the forums... The people in the Bug testing servers were all forum users, right? Add some strange and weird combos and voilà, you have great racing!
I don't think you'll get the same numbers of people, most people were there because of the bug testing stuff....which is a shame but
