Change view button
Unless i am missing something
i cannot change the view change button from anything other than the default "v" keyboard button.

i use a separate controller to the keyboard to drive and i don't use the defualt view, and everytime a race starts i have to press V on the keyboard then continue playing

could the view change button become a user defined preference so i can assign it to a button on my controller?

Thanks
Justin

Not sure if you can change that somewhere in the menu options, I've never looked and I'm a cockpit driver anyway

Could you assign one of your controller's buttons to activate the "V" key? I have a couple of my Momo's buttons set up to trigger keystrokes in other games..
Which view do you drive in? You can switch the default view to the custom view in the menu somewhere, is that's what you use.

I think you can make the view to change automatically. For example if you want to use the chase view with the cars that by default use paddles to change gears, open the file .../LFS/data/scripts/paddles.lfs and add "/view fol" at the bottom of it (without the quotes). The view should then switch each time the paddles script runs, which happens when you get into the car.

Hi,

My first post here, I have searched for /view fol and only found this and posts about custom views.

I would like to change the view to fol each time, I have added /view fol to sequential.lfs but it doesn't work. I changed it to /view<tab>fol and got a script error in the top left of the screen. This seems it is being read but not changing the view.

I can just press v, but it seems I shouldn't have to.

Anyone help?

Also any quick help on how to make the wheels turn less sharply using a game pad? They appear to be straight or full-lock, doesn't seem to slow me down much though!

Weird. What happens if you put "/view custom" instead?

You could also try putting "/press v" twice in the script.

I know you can run another script, from sequential.lfs, so if it doesn't run the view command for some reason, try creating a new script, put "/view fol" in it, and call that script from sequential.lfs, using "/run <yourScriptName>".

There's an option that allows to change the steering linearity, but I forgot its name. I'm sure someone else will chime in with the answer.

Thanks for your help, not working though.

I created a file follow.lfs
Then in sequential.lfs added /run follow
I played with a few options, nothing changed the view.
I tried :
/view fol
/view custom
/press v

I also tried multiple entires and all of the above! :-)

When I added /say /view fol

I got a script error.

Am I missing something simple?

Errr... what version of LFS are you running?

Not sure what the download was but I have done all the updates to X10 (I think).

Hmm, the script runs probably before LFS switches from the garage/lobby to the track, then. So the view command is triggered too early (either at a point where it cannot work, or just before LFS sets the view on its own). If this is the case, I'm afraid that changing the view from the sequential script won't be possible before Scawen implements some wait command.

Edit: Isn't it possible to make a satisfying chase cam in custom view? In this case, you could set the custom view to be the default one, and LFS would load it each time you get into the car.
The difference is, in custom mode the car is stuck to the screen, you don't get any idea of movement.

Thanks for the answers, at least I know it's not just me!

I will keep an eye out for any scripting changes!
