Meteor Shower TONIGHT!!
Where's Bruce Willis?
/me takes cover.

If you cannot see it, because of the weather or other reasons, you could try Stellarium (Win, Linux, Mac). It's shows planets, stars, nebulas, milky way etc in 3D as you would see them in sky. It even shows meteor showers. Nice program if you want to find targets for your telescope.
Yay It`s pretty cloudy here, but I just saw one travelling roughly East > West. It didn`t look like the usual shooting star, more like an impossibly fast moving plane with extremely bright irregular flashing navigation lights.

Too busy pissing it down with rain for me to see anything

Dude, you`re just up the road. It ain`t raining here...

okay it isnt raining anymore, my blinds were shut. In my defence, it was raining an hour ago when i opened my windows
Just heard on the radio there's been about 30 of them in Pembroke.
are they falling or are they just shooting across the sky?
The peak of them is at 1am to 5 am. Im going to be watching em with my family.

A few years back we had some copper filled(green contrails) ones exploding. We had a F**KING HUGE, but still small enough to explode, meteor. It sounded like a Boeing 747 exploded above us but it all fizzled out lol..
Well so far all I've got is a stiff neck. Might take a deck chair out and a bottle of scotch, make it a bit more bearable.

Sky's clear here in York too. What a con.
I've just been out for a while and all i saw was a few shooting stars, no meteor showers

i'll go out again later to see if i see any
Shooting stars only for me!

Some good ones though, real bright one went right across my field of view.
I've seen a few so far. I might have another look just after 1am but then I need to sleep... why couldn't it have been a day (or two) earlier

Because Murphy's law hates you and every else who can't see the shower. Get used to it! lol..

If you wanna watch a fake one get some friends to dip some pebbles in lighter fluid, go on your roof and throw them while on fire off of your roof, theres a shower you WONT forget
So here in América we are not gonna see the meteor shower?

I thought it was anywhere in the northern hemisphere?
I thought i had one on my camera...

But it was a spec of water. Now its raining.

OH ok thx, I didn't read the article in the link... I'm busy right now..

Thx
Not clear at all here, been raining on and off all afternoon. I'm also exhausted for some reason this evening, so I'm probably not going to see the shower

I like this kinda stuff too.. visually stunning.
seen one or two here nothing special clear skys aswell kinda sucks damn city lights
Yeah, we get a good view of the pershoid (?) shower every year at this time too. only it's always between 3:30 and 5:00 am. Am I wrong, or doesn't this thing occur over a period of a couple a days?l I can't remember. I haven't seen it in years.
Well it seems the light pollution is doing its job, I saw 1 maybe 2, 1 definate one which was red, and the other I think I saw out of the corner of my eye.

I have a loft room and a skylight, It can fully rotate so that I can see straight up at pretty much the whole sky. But alas I didn't see much, no more than I usually see.

I love the red ones. They are filled with iron. We get greenies mostly, copper filled, but they are still cool..

12 AM here atm, 1 hour till peak time begins..WOOT FOR NO SCHOOL IN MORNING! (Most of school is giving out permissible leave of absence to even the teachers for the event, because they think its supost to teach some kind of astromany..what weirdos! )
