Aston Martin Rally GT
Any of you seen this? Its basically an aston martin V8 vantage, but is going to be used for rallying :P

Heres the link http://www.worldcarfans.com/20 ... -martin-rally-gt-released .

And for those of you who cba to click the link, here is the main part.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage goes rallying

Independent rally teams will soon be able to compete in the world’s most exclusive rally car, the Aston Martin Rally GT. The new car has been developed by Aston Martin Racing, a partnership between Prodrive and Aston Martin.
The Rally GT is based on the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, but extensively re-engineered by Prodrive. The motorsport specialist has combined its experience of running the Aston Martin DBR9s in international sports car racing with more than 20 years of rallying experience, to create this new car. As part of its development programme, the Rally GT has already competed in three French Rally Championship events, coming second in the Series GT class on its debut at the Lyon to Charbonniers Rally.
As with the DBR9, the Rally GT uses a standard road car chassis which is fitted with a Prodrive-designed roll cage for safety and increased torsional rigidity. The engine is closely based on the all alloy road car 4.3 litre V8 unit but has been tuned to make it more flexible and responsive for the demands of rallying.
The suspension on the Rally GT carries over the road car’s wishbones, but has new competition Eibach springs and three-way adjustable EXE-TC dampers. The standard road car transmission is kept on the rally car, but this can be upgraded to a six-speed, close ratio dog engagement gearbox, developed specifically for the Rally GT.
A limited number of Rally GTs will be produced by Aston Martin Racing and the first cars will be available at the end of 2006.

@post#2: as Stated by Jeramy Clarkson - " pornography "

wow i would also love to see how this car performs offroad.
This is old news

Still.. very cool. Any videos afoot?

He is a GT driver. Not Rally.

Drivers frequently do different things; I've seen rally drivers at LeMans, Motorcycle riders in rallies, etc. Just because they actively chase one championship doesn't mean that is the only thing they do.

No, he's DEFINATELY a Rally driver, iirc he was the in the Rally of Spain a few years ago.

That wasn't my point.

In 2004 he converted to rallying and competed in two World Rally Championship events, posting a best result of 4th. He was signed to drive Subaru's second car along with young Australian Chris Atkinson as a teammate to former world champion Petter Solberg. hmm, i would hardly call that a rally career, but ok, its more of a likely happening, than what i first thought.

But JakG, hes not DEFINATELY a rally driver, people should use Wiki more, myself included, makes you look less of a retard.
He's not really a GT driver either, he's only driven the DBR9 according to the wiki page. The 908 isn't a GT car, it's a prototype

Which was in a Road Race - A.K.A Sports Car (GT) Race.
It's not a GT race, it runs in Endurance Races. A Proto is not a GT car. GT cars are all based on road-going vehicles (usually sports cars, for obvious reasons, thus the term sports car racing). A prototype is not based on any street vehicle, and thus is not a GT car.

In any case, he's not a GT driver because he does (and has done) other things. F1, Rally, Superfund (Renault World Challenge now IIRC) etc.

I remember him racing in the WRC, on TV, doing quite well. That, in my book at least, makes him a rally driver, if that somehow also makes me a retard well oh well

And is an Audi R10 legal? yes, with a higher ride height and different tyres.. yes it is. Just the same changes would be needed for a GT2 Porsche, k thx bai
wow the masters of prodrive are making another classic with that db9... i cant see it being a rally car but then again they said that about all lancias and look how great they where
Quote from BlueFlame :And is an Audi R10 legal? yes, with a higher ride height and different tyres.. yes it is. Just the same changes would be needed for a GT2 Porsche, k thx bai

I highly doubt an Audi R10 would be legal on the street; barring of course special parade instances where race cars go around the closed off streets on parade duty.

In either case, a Prototype is NOT a GT car.
