Although most people think that LFS has great deformation grapihcs (car crashes) i dont feel its all that realistic, for exampe the bf1 instead oh shattering like carbon fibre and fibre glass should so it crumples like metal.
The GTR cars should be made out of fibre glass and carbon fibre like the DTM cars they are based on (FXR) same with the LX4 crumples like metal when it should shatter.
Alos in open wheeled cars why dont the wheels come off after a big shunt like they should do, if you think about it they are not that realistic.
The damage system was just introduced with S2, it is by no means final nor even close to final, nor have I ever heard anyone say it is more than "okay."
We'll certainly see plenty of updates which include model updates, damage, etc.
You've been around this forum long enough Pearcy to know that the damage model is temporary.
Oh yea; the LX4 is most likely made out of sheet metal (aluminum?) and not carbon or fiber glass. Also, the GTRs are not based on DTM cars. IIRC the FZR has specs closer to that of a GT3 Porsche, not even close to the performance of a DTM car.
No but the FXR is thats why i pointed it out in bracets, and actually the nose cone on the LX4 is fibre glass the only part of it that may or should be metal (alluminium) is the bonnet everypart of the LX4'S body work should be fibre glass except the bonnet.
And ive not really been around that long really and ive only read one thread that that has anyhting thing to do with crash affects and that was someone saying it was brilliant and realistic, some parts are so unrealistic its un-true i.e heads popping from roofs feet coming out of the front crash structure on the BF1.
Ive probably seen more crashed cars than anyone on this forum so in most cases i know what im talking about, and have seen about 15 crashed caterhams to know what they are made of.
Well you tell me which one looks most like the LX4.
And no the comment i made wasnt ignorant what so ever i was pointing out that im not just some dumb kid that thinks he knows about cars, i was just highlighting the fact so i dont get talked to like a peice of crap that doesnt know anything which usually happens on this forum.
If you look at a DTM car and the FXR i think youll find they look fairly similar same exhausts etc. No they dont have the same capability but the do look alike.
And here we have a crashed caterham which is sitting in my garage, and like i said nose cone is fibreglass and the wheel guards and the bonnet is metal hence why its crumpled.
I don't care which it looks like more, it should be aluminum. I guess I'm just old fasioned.
No, the FXR does not look like a DTM car. Not in the least. It looks more like one than the other GTRS, yes, but it still does not look like one. DTM cars have 4 doors, a driver who sits very far back, and a plethora of winglets and aero devices.
For the record, saying that you've seen 15 wrecked caterhams makes you look more like 'a dumb kid' than presenting an informed argument. I'm not saying you are 'just some dumb kid,' but you don't present yourself as an informed individual. Maybe working on your English could help.
WTF?? there is nothing wrong with my english, im actually aiming for A grades next year and am in all the top sets except for english (how ironic :tilt most of my spelling mistakes are due to typing errors and then when i have typed a thread i CBA going back through it.
Its not like im trying to impress you is it? And for the record this forum really needs to stop on peoples writing skills afterall i have a few friends that are dislexic, i think thats what its called :S which gives them learning disabilitys, so i suggest you work on your social skills.
And how does saying ive seen 15 crashed caterhams make me sound like a dumbass, i didnt even mention seeing them until you tried telling me they were made out of alluminium, so i simply said that ive seen 15 crashed ones to know what they are made out of. You my friend are sounding more like the dumbass!
I didn't say it makes you sound like a dumbass, I said it makes you sound more like just some kid. It doesn't add to your argument, it detracts from it. One of those "I can do it better than you" kind of statements. Also, I never said that Caterhams were made out of aluminum, I said the origional 7s were.
I apologise for the English comment, yours is actually pretty good.
"Oh yea; the LX4 is most likely made out of sheet metal (aluminum?) and not carbon or fiber glass."
It wasnt intended as an "im better than" you comment, must have obviously been misunderstood.
Thanks for the apology, altough im not dislexic (spelling?) i cant help but wonder when someone is going to come on this forum that is and is upset by people making comments about his english. It really does need to be stamped out.
Argh... I've been wasting 5 minutes during which I should have been working hard reading through this pointless thread. How can this nonsense be related to improvement?
Where is there a suggestion in it?
Now I wasted 2 more minutes posting there back to work
What? There's nothing wrong with my English; I'm actually aiming for A-grades next year, and I'm in the top sets for English. It's not ironic at all. Most of my spelling mistakes are due to typing errors, and then when I have typed a thread I can't be bothered going back through it.
It's not like I'm trying to impress you is it? And for the record this forum really needs to stop discussing peoples' writing skills. After all, I have a few friends that are dislexic [sic] (how ironic!), I think that's what it's called. Which gives them learning difficulties [No, it doesn't - 'learning difficulties' are something else entirely - TC], so I suggest you work on your social skills.
And how does saying I've seen 15 crashed Caterhams make me sound like a silly person? I didn't even mention seeing them until you tried telling me they are make out of aluminium [they are - TC], so I simply said I seen enough to know what they are made off. You, my friend, are sounding more like a silly person.
There, I think I've corrected it for you. You were up to D-grade standard, but now you should be A-grade standard.
Sevens are, historically, aluminium bodied. Indeed, I could point out page 76 of this weeks Autosport, where a 'Traditional Aluminium bodied seven is being made for the discerning customer'. Racing and/or budget Sevens are made from GRP because it's a smidgen slighter and can be a smidgen stronger. But it's not quite right. It's like replacing wood in a Bentley with carbon fibre - probably a better material, but so so naff.
Edit: Could be worse though - you could be Austin31287, and actually be stupid.
I did say except for english, which actually is ironic
Come back when you can actually drive any of the cars in question TAGL
Listen, i know the traditional sevens were made out of alluminium like the one i posted, im talking about the LX4 it doesnt look modelled on a traditional seven it looks like its modelled on a caterham the seven looks nothing like the LX4 it even has fibre glass/carbon fibre wheel covers depending if you put on the add-on on or not, which the traditional sevens did not have ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM.
I couldnt give a crap about the traditional sevens i was talking about the LX4 being modelled on a new style caterham, but yet it not having the crash affects of one. Then after being wrong about the new caterhams being made out of alluminium, start talking about the sevens which were, but yet it has feck all to do with the thread topic.
The suggestion of a collision physics update and a more detailed damage modelling system (that would also have a more severe affect on gameplay) has already been made (multiple times) in the past.
I hope that when it comes to things breaking up we'll get it as close as possible to real world physical interaction as we usually do when a part of the LFS engine undergoes a makeover.
Best post in this entire thread.
You people forget that the cars in LFS are actually cars in LFS. Not real-life copies, it is the Dev's home-made cars and nothing else. Doesn't matter if they look like a Caterham Super Seven, a DTM-car or anything. It is what it is, not what it look's like.
I didnt ask as a suggestion i actually put the thread in general discussion to see other peoples thoughts it was XCNuse that put it in the improvement suggestions section!!!
Oh yeah thats realistic every ar is made out of metal when some of them should be made out of fibreglass to make them as light as they are !
Why should they be made out of fiberglass? Who decided's that? You as a player or the Dev's that created this game from scratch?
If you read that question enough you will see that the answer is; The Dev's.
If they decide that all cars are metal, then they are metal.
If they decide that all cars are carbon fibre, then they are carbon fibre.
If they decide that alll cars ..... You get the point.
It doesn't really matter what you think is real or not real, the cars are made by the Dev's for a game created by the Dev's. The Dev's decide what should be done and not you.
Sure players do have some "voice" in the matter, but you can't just come in screaming that this and that ain't real because you have seen 15 wrecked Caterham's which has absolutley NOTHING to do with the game at all.
The cars is LFS cars, LX4, FXR, FZR, UF1 and so on. Not Caterham, DTM-car, Porsche GT3, Mini Cooper. It is an LFS car and thereby there is no real preset of which material it is.
I'd also say that about 99% of the people that have been playing LFS for the past at least two months would realize that the game is not even close to being finished, and things like this are in the works.
