Any chance of using utf8 (or selectable encoding since LFS don't use utf8) instead of standard western encoding so we of non-latin alphabets can enter our names using our native language since LFS supports them?
IIRC I believe that whilst LFS fully supports many language/characters, SQL does not, and this is why the characters are not allowed within the CTRA system.
Yep, we're using MySQL. The issue isn't actually putting the data into the database. We actually meet problems retrieving it from the database within our InSim app.
Is the InSim app able to retrieve it from the database but the problem is in putting it in LFS? Because if that is the case then it couldn't go right into LFS anyway, it would have to be converted to the corresponding Windows codepage from utf8 and then sent to LFS.
If your app is based on .NET, then transcoding text using the .NET classes is pretty easy.
But as I said earlier, this isn't a nag or anything - the system works great anyhow. Not to mention that most international authorities in sports and motorsports just use latin alphabet for names so this sort of adds a bit of "real world touch" to it.
