A little help mapping controls to a wheel.
I would like to map a few options to the wheel but am having problem's. I am sure I could probably do this with a external program, but will give LFS a shot first.

My wheel = Xbox 360 wheel via wireless receiver. I like to play on my 42inch in 1080p, so I am not real close to my pc, thus the reason I want to map a few controls.

First up = Return to pits (Shift+P). I tried to map this to a button in the options (/press Shift+P) but kept getting a error. Am I not typing the command right?

Any is there anyone way I can navigate the menu's via my D-Pad on the wheel. The arrow keys on my keyboard seem to be useless for navigating menu's in LFS, cause they do nothing.

First off, try shift-arrows if you have problems navigating the menus. Some have found that they need to use the shift key for some reason.

I don't know about using actual commands (your /press shift-p example) but for any other stuff you may want to do that you can't with chat commands, you can google search for "joy2key.exe". You can program many keyboard combinations into your controller quite easily with that and many folks use it.
I am familiar with Joy2Key, but figured I might be doing something wrong.

Shift+arrow keys doesn't help any
(tried alt and ctrl also)
Mike, Shift+arrows is for navigating the Fuel and Setup menus while in a car, while the arrows are already bound

You can't do anything in the menus really with keys.
