Don't know if it was mentioned before as this project appears to be more than a year old, but I just happened upon this by following the link from this youtube video collection (has several LFS examples together with some flight sim stuff) - the maker claims that it don't cost more than 500 euro to make this 2DOF motion cage (can't call it a platform really). Apparently it's based in the designs of an older flightsim motion cockpit. The use of PVC pipes as construction material is quite interesting.

If you've built it yourself then you'll be called crazy for as long as you are building it then everyone will watch the first time you test it hoping for a bit of slapstick but if it's successful, after 10 minutes the inevitable "can I have a go at it?" will be uttered.
exactly. people already think i'm crazy for buying 3 monitors and a G25 to play a game anyway.

And they're crazy for sitting behind a mind-mushing propaganda-pushing television for hours - works both ways. I'd bet sim racing does more for your brain.

The motion sim looks addicting.
