Hey

My video card has stopped working and now my computer is running of the onboard one.
Is it possible to run lfs with and onboard video card.
Because when i try and open it at the moment it says

' LFS: Could not detect and suitable screen modes '

any ideas

depends how old your mobo is?
what type of onboard you have?
is it set up correctly i.e. bios & mobo drivers?

im using an onboard card and lfs runs fine

Go to your lfs directory and open the file "cfg.txt"

Look for a line similar to this:

Screen Info 0 60 1440 900

the bold part is your screen resolution used by LFS, change it to your desktop resolution (if it is not already) and see if that helps.

The first digit is your graphics adapter

open the file card_cfg.txt and check if it lists your onboard card or your defected card where it says "adapter name"
