Issues with 360 controller and LFS
For the sake of clarity, I'm using the 'Windows' packaged version of this controller - though I gather there is no difference between this and the 360 version.

Is anyone using this controller successfully? With regard to LFS, how do I configure controls so as to have both triggers operating pedals at the same time, as at present pressing one trigger at the same time as the other cancels both inputs out.

Also, I'm not getting any force feedback.

Can anyone help?
.... Xbox 360 Controller on your computer?

Never heard of it working in LFS since it is all relatively new... don't have an idea how to get it working either...
dont think the 360 controller will work, i have a regular xbox controller S and it works perfect

You're not going to get any force feedback since those controllers don't support it. "Rumble" and force feedback are not the same thing.
My bad, I meant rumble, sorry. In any event I'm not getting any rumble.
ContourSVT, The controller works well, save for the issues I mentioned with using the analog triggers as pedals. If you're using this setup on your Controller S, how did you set it up?
set throttle/brake to seperate axis, then configure them.

or did you mean how i got it to work? I wired a usb plug to the pigtail for the controller and download the program off the net.
There are 5 analog axis available to me, 2 on each of the thumb pads and 1 axis split over the triggers.

Ideally I would like to steer with the left analog d-pad and use the triggers for acceleration and brakes. the way the axis is spread over the triggers means I can't do this.

You're not going to get any rumble effect. LFS doesn't have any idea what rumble is, it only sends out force feedback info. The controller doesn't know what FF is, it only responds to rumble info.
I did some more googling on this, and essentially this is a known problem. looks like MS have put a product out which offers a basic level of function, it isn't fully possible to customise the settings (deadzones etc) and rumble doesn't appear to be supported by any games.

What's interesting about all of this is I previously used a PS2 Dualshock pad and 3rd adaptor which worked perfectly (including rumble) not just with LFS S1 and S2, but Nascar Racing 2003 Season, GPL, RBR and MotoGP2 amongst others.

Feeling mugged to the tune of £20 and not happy...
my rumble effect works fine, and all my buttons are anolog.
I just bought an Xbox 360 controller last night. I'm running Windows 2003, so i couldn't use the 'official' Microsoft driver, which is apparently rubbish anyway. What i did was use the old Xbox controller driver by redcl0ud (XBCD), with a patch to let it work with the 360 controller.

Here's what you need :-

Download XBCD version 1.07 from HERE.

Download the latest drivers for your verison of Windows (2k/XP/2k3) from HERE.

Download the default Xbox 360 Config File with L and R triggers on seperate axises from HERE.

Once you've got all that, here's what to do...

First, install XBCD. Then, unzip the driver you downloaded and run install.bat. This will update XBCD to recognise the 360 pad. You can now plug the pad in. Windows should detect it as "XBCD 360 Control Pad" or something similar. When windows has sorted itself out, go to START -> PROGRAMS -> XBCD -> SETUP UTILITY. This brings up the settings for XBCD. Click open in the bottom left corner of the window, and open the config file with seperate L and R triggers you downloaded. You'll find that the controller doesn't work properly in the setup utility, don't worry about that, just click apply then exit. You can now go into the game controller section of your control panel. You should see XBCD Xbox Controller listed in there. Highlight it and press properties. The XBCD setup utility will pop up again, just press exit and the windows properties will pop up. You can now calibrate and use the controller as normal, with seperate axis for the L and R triggers, and working rumble for the force feedback.

That's how i did it on Windows 2003 anyway. 2k or XP may be slightly different, but there's a 'how to' guide on the last site i linked to that should be able to point you in the right direction.

I've set my pad for steering on the left stick, brakes on L trigger, throttle on R trigger, looking around on the right stick, and gears on the A and B buttons. Seems to work quite well, although the gear change is taking a little getting used to.
hey the link to the drivers isnt working do you have another? it would be greatly apreciated
AAAAAAH! i started using the XBCD package from this guy and it worked well, i can now control the throttle and brake separately, but now i am having problems with the right analog stick, it works in tests and the control configuration with live for speed but now i can't seem to use the clutch!!! now i am restricted to auto tranny

and the game seems to read everything as appropriate for a rumble, from clutching to turning to even shifting and accelerating. My hand got kinda numb so i eventually turned rumble off altogether
for me dont works :/
