Tyre temps, pressures and camber
I know there have been a few threads on this in the past (and some recently) but I'm still confused when it comes to the pressure/camber part of a setup.
I played GPL a lot until I got LFS and the way I understood it in GPL, the optimum setup had the inner edge of the tyre about 10 degrees hotter than the outside with the middle somewhere in between. This meant setting the camber to get the inner and outer temperatures right then setting the tyre pressure to get the middle temperature right.
Naturally, I tried this when I got LFS but ended up with much more positive camber than most racers seem to use and very (very!) low tyre pressures.

So, can somebody explain exactly how to set the camber and tyre pressures in LFS?
That information is only correct for a particular type of tyre. In LFS, road tyres are best when near-evenly heated, and slicks when the middle and inside are at optimum. At least, that's how I find it.
Quote from Bob Smith :That information is only correct for a particular type of tyre. In LFS, road tyres are best when near-evenly heated, and slicks when the middle and inside are at optimum. At least, that's how I find it.

Right, that makes sense. How do you suggest setting up a car for slicks then? You could get the inner and middle at optimum by using high negative camber and high pressure or lower camber and pressure. Is there any way to decide what's best other than the handling of the car?
Typically there is only a small pressure range which gives the best overall tyre temperatures anyway (what this is obviously depends on lots of other factors), so matching camber to go with this usually isn't too difficult.
slicks : use pressure under 1,8bar and -1 to -2° for camber
road super : very low pressure, slightly more than the min, and camber over -2° are quite good in general

With the slicks, I agree with Bob, in general, when doing a setup for hotlapping, it is better to have only the inner and central part of the tire at the right temperature, but for endu, you better use less camber to have a good wear (homogeneous) of the tire.

What i dont get is, why is the middle of the tire always the part with the highest temp.? With low pressures the inside/outside should have a higher temp then the middle.
with the RB4, at the lowest pressure, the middle was the coldest for me. But I had this problem with the FXR and XRR, the middle was quickly red...alone.

Flotch ur right , i didnt used the RB4 in S2 until now. I got 82/80/81 ° on the RB4's rear after some burn outs with 0° live camber. But i expected a little "more" with a pressure of 1.10 Bar Looks like the tires have a high load index , they can carry much weight without needing much pressure.
Thanks guys, that's helped a lot. I don't seem to be able to keep the temps normal with slicks at pressures below 1.8 bar but that's probably my driving
