Evolution of my setup
Hi..

I haven't post here about my setup before, but decided to show you guys how much things have changed in past year

About year ago I got my first TFT and "setup 1.0" looked like this.
Then just had to get rid of that OLD 15¨ crt and got another TFT..
Then "setup 2.0" looked like this.

Next step?

Another TFT of course
"setup 3.0" looked like this.

Then I got bigger apartment and could get something bigger
"setup 4.6" looks now like this.

Specs:
TFT's are Viewsonic's VX2025wm, 20´1¨ widescreen monitors
LCD TV is Samsung's LE_46F86BDX, 46¨ FullHD LCD television
Racing seat is Playseasts's Evolution Solberg's Edition white version
Racing gear: G25+Finnmotion's 3-pedal set and TrackIR 4 Pro
Sennheiser's HD595 headphones brings the sound

PC behind fps:
mobo: DFI Infinity P965-S Dark (soon to be replaced)
cpu: Core 2 Duo [email protected] (goes up to 4Ghz)
ram: 2gb 800mhz. G.Skill's NQ serie
gfx: Club 3D's Ati Radeon 1950XT 512mb version (soon to be replaced)

Looks pretty good doesn't it?

UPDATE on post #16
Quote from BenjiMC :yup, it does. But man! Wiring disaster!

indeed

That was actually first pics after I got everything on and had first test drives

If you browse pics bit further, you find atm look
Just wish there could be wireless version of G25 and pedals as keyboard and mouse already are.
he he . My setup is nothing compared to that. i wish there was a cheaper G25 dont care about wires
nice, nice, but don't you worry that you gonna get blind behind that huge TV
Quote from N I K I :nice, nice, but don't you worry that you gonna get blind behind that huge TV

What are the Finnmotion pedals like?
Quote from ajp71 :What are the Finnmotion pedals like?

Cheap "pro pedals"

They are solid metal every part in it so won't worn off any fast
They use same potentiometers than Speed7, VPP or any high-end pedals has
And you can mod them anyway you want, mine is really stock as you can see. But does the job more than any cheap plastic can do

More info at Finnmotion's site
Hi mate, that setup is fantastic.

I have started a new job recently and have a bit of cash to play with now so I wanna upgrade my shit. Just wanna ask a couple of questions as you have a similar setup to what I am aiming for...

I am currently running a 20.1" Belinea monitor (which has been fantastic). I was thinking of either running another two, or getting a 46" Bravia lcd tv, one with good contrast and fast response so its ok for gaming (at least I hope it will be). As you have gone from one to the other would you recommend the TV over the 3-Monitor setup? And also, what is the performance hit running the 3 monitors on games. As for my system I'm gonna go for the 6600 quad with 2Gb of ram, and one (maybe upgrade to two in Feb) 8800GTX all on a 1333Mhz bus, and possibly liquid cool everything so I can clock it all to the moon.

btw this is not just for lfs you understand, having played through crysis with basically minimum settings recently has prompted me to finally upgrade.

Cheers mate

Yeah mine isn't just for LFS either

I recommend TV over 3-monitor setup for real, sure you get wider image with 3 monitors but the muscle it needs to run is just not cool atm I got some 40-60 fps in LFS with 3 monitors, has vsync on so can't tell how much over 60 it sometimes went but usually was 40+.. If more cars than 20.. then less than 40 fps. In Oblivion it was hardly "playable", got 15-30 fps with 3 monitors. With TV, I get constant 60fps in LFS thx to vsync, without vsync over 100 fps. Haven't test Oblivion or Crysis with TV yet, but can't see any reason it being worse than with 3 monitors as resolution is much lower (5040x1050 vs 1920x1080)

What comes to system you will get, 8800GTX is good choice. I might go for new 8800GTS 512mb tho, it beats even old ultra in some games. Just bad side in that is, they are really hard to get atm so would need to wait.. If you want it NOW, go for 8800GTX cpu and ram is ok in your list.. especially with water cooling.

(if you can wait two-three months, next generation gfx cards comes out and also new intel cpu's so go for those, again IF you want to wait)
I was thinking bout waiting for next-gen cards, but I heard only the lower end stuff was coming out in 2 - 3 months and the high end stuff (9800 GT type cards) wouldn't come out till November at the earliest

Might just get a 8800GTX now and trade it in for a 9800 at the end of '08

Looks like a TV is my best bet then. I have heard however that when sitting relatively close to a large screen lcd it can appear very pixelated because of the resolution only being 1080p and having to be stretched so much. However my mate has a 36" and I gave that a whirl sat quite close and it seemed ok to me (playing on a 360 that is)

Also, just found a Bluray re-writer and HD-dvd player allinone for 180 quid. A media centre / gaming rig on a 46" tv is starting to sound like the best idea.

Whoever said that it gets pixelated because of big size has no idea what he talking about I dunno about HD-Ready tellys, but you can put your nose into screen and it's still not pixelated with fullHD Image quality is just mind blowing at least with Samsung's F86 serie

Wow quite cheap BD/HD-dvd drive there
in the pic with the white xbox 360 in, stand it up, it has less of a chance of breaking and get a watercooler for it, nice rig aswel.
Little bump to this thread..

Setup got quite a big upgrade in past 6 months..

PC specs now:
CPU: Core 2 Extreme QX9650 @3.6GhZ 24/7 (benched at 4.18GhZ)
Mobo: Asus Rambage Formula X48
RAM: 4GB Corsair Dominator PC2-8500
GFX: Nvidia GeForce 9800GX2
Cooling: custom build dual loop watercooling

Pics there

Also the wheel and pedals got updated to ECCI Trackstar 6006 F1 system.
