Fried Motherboard? Ok so about a year ago i had an xp running computer gateway! House got hit by lighning wont turn on! took it to guy in shop said need a motherboard! so we got a new PC vista and now we going to fix old one to use in my room! Is this what is the problem or atleast sounds like it? And if it is what one should i buy! cheap but good so i can put some moeny into server and website!

If you know that the PSU still works and arent hearing the hard drive churning and arent seeing anything on the monitor when you try to boot, the mobo would be my guess.

Are you looking to buy a processer, ram, videocard, ect. w/ this new setup? Or are you using exhising components?

I am only planning on getting what i need!
Edit: yea the green light for the power turns on but the computer doesnt start or show anything!
