i just got a N82 and would like to ask some people if they have the same problem that i have

when i want to use the GPS i have to go to connections and then click GPS and then wait for the signal before opening the nokia maps

or should it just work when i open nokia maps?

GPS recievers usually take between 45 and 120 seconds to aquire a signal, so the 'pause' is normal.

Unlike dedicated GPS devices, mobile phones equipped with GPS tend to only activate relevant transmission when an application requiring it is launched - given the high acquisition time (as, whilst only 3 satellites are technically required for triangulation, a minimum of 5 are usually used on such devices), this can lead to what seems like a lifetime before you get anywhere

i pick up 10 when running
but it will take u to 10 mins to run it if i just use nokia maps but if i go connections then gps 10 seconds ???
