Xp Sp3
A bit late, aren't you?
Microsoft did a hard work in the last few months...Vista SP1 and now XP Sp3.. But I still hate Bill Gates
It's rc1, so i assume it's NOT the official launch of SP3.
why should i download a service pack (and this one is just a release candidate) from a non-ms site?

why would i download ms-patches from other sites anyway?
This was released through the automatic updates system, if your clever enough to search a bit you would have gotten it months ago.
It will be official when it can be downloaded from M$ homepage, or via Windows Update
Will they send it to your home for free, like SP2?
You download it through Windows Update when it is officially released, just like SP2
For those who don't know it, Windows XP SP3 RC2 is officially out for two days:

System Requirements
* Supported Operating Systems: Windows XP Service Pack 2

Instructions
Download the script and run it on a machine currently running Windows XP Service Pack 2. The script sets a registry key on your system. The registry key is required for Windows Update to recognize your machine as a valid target for Windows XP Service Pack 3 RC2.

Versions of Windows XP Service Pack 3 prior to Release Candidate 2 should be removed before attempting to use the registry key. Windows Update will not offer Release Candidate 2 to machines with previous versions of the Windows XP Service Pack 3 beta.

It is recommended that you apply the resulting update package to an activated, genuine copy of Windows XP, in a test environment. As with any pre-release software, it is also recommended that you back up files and settings on your machine before applying this update package.

In other words it's still a "test patch". If you don't currently have issues with your SP2 box, wait till the patch goes final. Never know, could break more than it fixes ;o

Soo... what does it fix? Anything important? Or does it add "features" that I won't want?

The most important change will be a supposed 10% performance boost. I hope that's not an exaggeration. Also Network Access Protection from Vista is to be included...

That's utter rubbish. The rumour was started by a site running benchmarks in a Virtual Machine. (:rolleyes There may be performance improvements, but I'm willing to bet they won't be noticeable.
