XBOX 360 Joypad - Deadzone & Axis Splitting
First of all, merry X-Mas everybody.
Santa brought an X-BOX 360 Joypad, that can be used on every PC due to its USB Cable.

Problem numer one is that his pad has almost no deadzone for the analog stick, so I tend to "wiggle" my car untill i go off track
Does anybody know how to configure an angle in which the steering is just set to "absolutely stiff straight ahead" ?

Fortunate for people that do not want to buy a wheel but are still looking for technical ways to improve their laptimes this pad has two seperate "analog triggers" to be used with the pointing finger.
Unfortunately these triggers are wired as a single axis (if both are pushed you are neither braking nor accelerating), but to improve my trail braking skills I look for a way to be able to brake an accelerate simultaniously. Can this be set in either the device settings in windows or maybe in the lfs opions ?

Kind regards,

Pelzgurke

Thx to Orion for posting the link to dxtweak.

But I am running Win XP, and there seems to be no way of actually applying the deadzone settings in this OS.

Although the deadzone is detected in dxtweak, it wont work in LFS.

Are there known workarounds for this ?

it does work, you have to save it as a profile or something, and also click apply (dont remember, not used it for like a year)

yeah, it says it doesn`t work with xp. didn`t find anything about it on this forum. does anyone know a way?
Wow great. Its a pity MS isnt able to fix this prob

Thx for finding this
No problem, I'm still having a problem with mine. I've set Joystick 1 to mousespring but the mouse springs back to a touch off center and at high speed the car pulls badly to the right ...
Also, if you go under Misc settings in LFS, bring the Smooth Analog steering slider up until it's more comfortable
I've used the original Xbox game controller for about 2 years now on my PC, it's been very good. Have currently got split axis for brake and throttle (left and right analog triggers), use the left joystick for steering and the right joystick for head movement

I use Rudloc's drivers for the xbox controller...

and my settings for the controller in LFS is as follows:
In each car setup under Steering section
Max Steering Lock: 16
In Options under Controls
Wheel Turn: 180
Wheel Turn Compensation: 0.30
Throttle/Brake Axes: Separate
Throttle/Brake Centre Reduction: 0.30
Remove Deadzones: Yes
In Options under Misc
Analog Steer Smooth: 0.30

From what I've read the microsucks drivers are rubbish but the good news is, is that Rudloc and some others are rewriting the original XBCD drivers, that I use, to work with the Xbox360 controller also but it is still in development, so if your not technical minded it might pay to wait till a stable version is available...

Having said that I think the current version will work for most, so if you can't wait, then check out these sites for progress on the drivers
http://www.redcl0ud.com/xbcd.html is the drivers for the original Xbox controller
http://matt-land.com/xbcd/ is the driver that supports the new Xbox360 controller (which is based on Rudloc's original driver) also good links at bottom of page
http://xbcd360guide.50webs.com/ is an explanation of how to install the Xbox360 drivers...

Enjoy
Guys, why can't I get dxtweak2 to boot up? I double
the icon but nothing happens. I have my wired 360 controller connected but nothing happens
