are north wales police entering sportscar racing ?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7283754.stm

i wonder were they got their colour scheme from and if they could run into copywrite problems

its a bit ironic that its created to allow them to get their message across to youngsters yet it appears to resemble a spirits manufacturer's promotion
yea that does seem strange, i think they seem to think that if they dress up like boy racers they can get close to them and the jump them. fat lot of good that does when all they get is a small fine and a slap on the wrist.

Martini racing colours? Not smart, IMHO.

Oh, and how does this news relate to "General Racing Talk"? Shouldn't it be "Off topic"?
"the van was among initiatives designed to deal with the potential danger of "cruising" events"

They have the same problem we do! Just kidding.. !

The answer is obvious. LFS needs a van with racing stripes!

...actually, that could be rather entertaining.
They need to put a supercharged V8 in that thing.
i bet every copper in the joint signed up to drive that thing, pull up just round the corner and watch a dvd on the TV... or perhaps play Bad Boys (music... theme from COPS) when pulling someone over... hehe. that would be good
^ Yep

I fail to see how it'll get them into the 'cruising' events though. They'll just be laughed at, nobody sensible turns up to one in a Transit...and as the cops use a modified Transit...good luck getting in

DK
I cannot believe they would use an alcohol derived colour scheme on a police vehicle. Talk about leaving yourself wide open to criticism.
Sorry, "cruising events"? Come on.

There's a lot of things more dangerous to do than sit outside McDonalds in your hatchback talking to people with the stereo on. I've been to a few myself and the "worst" thing I've seen is a few Corsas pulling handbrake turns in wide open spaces. Don't know what everyone else thinks but I'd rather they did it there than on roundabouts to be honest.

And "full-on illegal races on marked up tracks?" I've never seen that once, did the police get their idea of cruising from NFSU or F&F instead of reality?

Maybe I've just been to really tame "cruises" but imo, the real dangers are out on the road, not in a car park.
Most cruisers meet in the car parks and then go for a cruise in convoy. This van idea seems a waste of time and tax payers money, but what more do you expect from this government?.

Height of pointlessnes imo. What a waste of fuel, I've never understood the need to take 4 cars to one place when all 4 people can sit in one?
I do not drive. I have been to a few, yes they are rather boring and pointless, my mate owns a pro drive scooby and he likes to look for gurls so i wont say no
Quote from tinvek :i guess someone else has noticed the similarity

LOL... Never met a copper yet who actually has any proper grasp of the law...
oh no there going to pull me over while racing cause i was going to fast...
