iPod touch
After 5 years of being a Creative fanboy, I am now the proud owner of a 32GB iPod Touch and officially Steve Jobs' bitch

Anyone know if there's any funky things I should download for it, and also if there's any way of syncing it with a 'normal' PC music app (ie, anything not iTunes)?
WinAMP can handle regular iPods... I assume it does Touch as well.

So can Foobar.
My friend had a dead cool virtual piano and guitar mod for it. Well, pretty cool anyway.
its Stephen Jobs not Steve

JAILBREAK IT! I'm a nerd at iPod Touches and you can do a lot with jailbreaking it ^^
Also, as of recent, the iPhone/iPod Touch SDK has come out, so in a couple of months, you'll be able to upgrade to Firmware 2.0 (iPod Touch users it will cost moneys) and be able to use the App Store, where apparently many apps will be Free.
Jailbreak isn't out for Firmware 1.14 yet, so I'm going to wait till they bring out the new version.

So its just a case of doing a restore in iTunes to get rid of the Jailbreak?
For iPod Touch - Probably, but for iPhone, becuase the Baseband is hacked, it's likely that it would break something.
How can you get a phone working on an iPod? Or have I misunderstood, because the Pod won't have the hardware required surely, let alone somewhere for SIM cards or cellular network identification...

I am, however, prepared to be totally wrong, as I've never really followed the music gadget fashion.
Tristy, they're 2 seperate devices, although the hardware similarities are so close. The only difference between the iPod Touch and iPhone are the Apps that come installed, the iPhone has Bluetooth, and iPod lacks the bits for speech, however people have hacked the Dock connector to allow VoIP applications to work with homemade microphones.

Actually, I think they haffto charge. Something to do with the EULA being different in some manner, makes it so that the iPhone can be updated at will (Subscription basis), whereas the iPod needs to be charged for some obscure, unknown to all but the greatest philosophers, reasons.

BUMP!

Thought i would bring this topic back as i found an app for my ipod which has me over the moon XD

After getting over the fact that my ipod only had 29GB instead of 32GB :/ And the fact i bought the wrong case so now its littered with scratches,
and the fact ive already filled it,
I started having fun buying apps XD.
First of all it started with a little guitar programme, then it started growing, now ive got about 30 apps on my ipod.

But last night i found the most immense one XD
Its called Mocha VNC Lite
It lets me control my computer from my ipod XD
I can now leave my computer on while i go to town and whenever i find a wifi hotspot i can check how my downloads are going from my ipod. Or just do anything else i want to do.
Soon im going to be getting another app for my ipod that will let me turn it on from sleep So when i go off on holiday for a week or two i can jsut leave my computer on sleep and turn it on whenever im needing to use it.

This makes the ipod touch truly AWESOME!
It does pawn everything else out there
Migz... Apple (and every HD manufacturer) sells them as being 32GB being 32,000 MB... which is wrong, seeing 1 GB is 1024 MB (and all the way down the line through KB). It's not Apple, it's every HD manufacturer being gay.

Also, if you had a Mac, I'd recommend Clutch+Handbrake (not sure if the most recent versions of Handbrake comes with Clutch or not), becuase it offers an absolutely great interface for web browser managing of Torrents.

Oh I see, I thought it was 3GB Reserved for the iPhone OS.

I do sort of have a mac as you read about in the other topic but it doesn't have Internet. So I wouldn't be able to use that.
But this vnc app is not only useful for checking downloads I can also control media monkey using it, so I don't have to move to change my music I can also scare people by making them think my computer is possessed
My cousin had an i phone which is nearly the same, and she had loads of cool stuff on it that i believe you download from I tunes

You should get the iPod Dyno. I am surprised that no one mentioned it.

Plus, you have to factor in the index file of the HDD, which zaps quite a bit of space with those big HDDs as well...

Yup, every app is from either the istore on iTunes or you can get them directly from the app store on your iPhone/itouch

I've got that, tbh on the iPod it's a bit crap, there's no gps so you can't work out your quarter mile speeds or anything interesting . You can only work out your acceleration using the accelerometer. And I don't have a car either so it's pointless. But I'm sure for car users that would be an amazing app.

Edit: Sorry for the double post but I'm currently on my iPod and it has no copy and paste function so I could merge the two posts into one :/
You could edit and then append the post to the end.

if you mean just editing my post and adding what I was going to say to the end then that would work if I didn't want the quote in there. Only way to get the quote in would be to type the quote and code myself, for it to come up.
get the zoozcontroler so u can use the touch as a steering wheel for lfs
