Vettel potential world champion?
Seriously this guy is what, 20 YEARS OLD(but only 19 when he got his first point! A FREAKING TEENAGER!) and he drives well above his weight in that torro rosso, i would say Red bull switch Coulthard with Vettel and you may see some podiums for Redbull this year.

I Say Vettel will win a race some time next year if he gets a good car(obviously meaning getting out of Torro Rosso).
Maybe. Let's see how he does over the course of a full season's racing.

Too early to say, IMHO.

Vettel shows promise, that's for sure. But last year's stint with STR wasn't anything spectacular (apart from Japan, where he was fantastic!). It seems he has improved his pace this year, but we've only seen two qualifications from him so far, so there is nothing conclusive.

If he does get switched to RBR, I sincerely hope they fix up their cars' fragility first! He's definitely worth a shot in RBR, or even better, BMW or Ferrari.
If he wins with Toro Rosso it will be a great performance, remember Senna winning a race with a team like Toro Rosso
Vettel and Button are REALLY similar drivers.
they both score points at the age of around 19-20. (vettel beat his record by like 80 days)
they both drives really good in wet condition.
they both have a pretty smooth driving style.

as a jens fan it just pisses me off when ppl keep saying how good vettel is and just totally neglect Button. i mean put button in a mclaren/ferrari and he can become a world champion just like Kimi and Alonso

Neither are special. There, I didn't ignore Button

Button WAS special until he lost some intellegence and stayed with Honda.

Vettel is linked with Ferrari in 09 so if that goes ahead we may see a new youngest world champion maybe?

You totally forgot about China last year, but oh well.
Yeah, last year he managed to earn points with the BMW, IMO he's a quite talented and skilled driver, but we all see, Toro Rosso sucks. I would let him try what he can do next to Raikko He need a good car, that's essential to be able to finish in any ofthe first 5 places. His situation is more harder than Hamilton's. Hamilton was lucky with the McLaren, since he got into a top team. I hope someone recognizes this guy

Tbh, I think more than half of the current grid could be world champion with the right car.
For me Vettel is just the next big hype. He's probably a good driver, but that applies to 85% of the grid.

I'm waiting fo the first rain race (normal rain, not Fuji conditions).

...well he immediately trounced his teammate Liuzzi who was a veteran within the team at the time. That seems to say a lot. He was on for a podium in China, which proves the speed and car control are there, along with the obvious impetuousness of youth.

What are they gonna do, run a third car? Ferrari's seats are full next year. Massa's contracted until 2010, and there's no reason why Kimi wouldn't renew with Ferrari if he stays in F1. There's a small chance he could retire, but that seems less and less likely with each success he has there. He's found a good home at Ferrari, unlike Mclaren.

I think it's funny Alonso keeps getting mentioned as possibly moving to Ferrari in '09. As though the door would be open for him there. Kimi's de facto #1 and Massa is a fast if erratic wingman. Ferrari doesn't need Alonso and all the baggage he would bring.

Hopefully Alonso stays in a decent team, though. I like having someone to cheer against.

If Massa continues making mistakes I doubt he'll have a secure seat for the next season. But I don't think that Vettel is really an option for Ferrari, because
a) I think it's DCs last season and there is a free spot on the Red Bull for next year (I mean Red Bull paid some money to get him away from BMW and then lets him leave?)
b) he is too young and Alonso is prolly on the market for the next season when Renault doesn't improve their performance a lot. So would you take a newbie when you can have the other only active (still driving) World Champion in current F1. The only thing that speaks against Alonso (and that's the reason I would never employ him) is that he wants too much money and that he would instantly starting to complain that the other driver always gets the better Stuff (the grass is always greener on the other side ).
