I hate to make a new thread just on this but, i feel its the only way to get the help i need
Just today i went out to walmart and bought a good, functional, seemingly durable analog controller with the intension of having smoother response and more control over the way my car in LFS turns/steers.

well there are prob's i have ran into;
1.It steers WAY too fast and quick, not smooth at all
2.if i move my stick about 20% over, its like i moved it 2x as fast and i cant control like that.
3.It makes my drifting techniques very twitchy and almost unpredictable at times.

I just want a smooth response, quick handling, and most of all comfort (not letting the computer do 50% of what i should be doing with no problem).
Please, i know SOMEONE knows exactly what im talking about.
and if u dont i swear i'll make a video to show u

Go to Options- Misc and change the Anologe Steer smooth. Play with it.

If you're willing to 'adapt' the pad a bit, drill a hole in the analogue stick and glue a stick of plastic or metal in there about half an inch long. You'd be amazed how much more precise movement you can get with just that little bit extra.

yeah man i do that but if i dont put it at like .88 (close to max) i cant tell any difference, and when i do tell its too smooth if u get what i mean, i can see my wheel in the cockpit trying to straighten out after a turn but it acts like a water weight and goes to and fro then it throws me off.
if i turn it down, i get my really fast a twitchy movements that piss me off beyond comprehension...

I'm afraid there isn't much you can do about it with a pad. It's not designed for driving sims, aswell as lfs designed for pads, so you should either train to be smooth, make a mod as crashgate suggested or buy a wheel

pm ATC QUICKSILVER, he uses a pad (quite well). he should be able to help you out.

I did, hope he can help me man, its getting on my nerves sooo bad. freaking barely touch the pad and my wheels go @#$@#$@#!%*^!

Oh, so it's a pad without joystick's on it?...

I thought that it was similiar to a ps2 gamepad...

? it has analogs on it

yeah haha thats sick, but ive been looking at the SideWinder wheel and actually ive been hearing some good things about it, and ive been seeing it for about $10-$40! more 10 buck ones than anything.

looks ok, a bit thick but whatever, i can/could build on it with some ACT-Labs pedals/shifters, etc.

BUT FA' 10 BONES HOW CAN YA ARGUE!!

Ya were getting wheels Woot lol I am not sure if it will make me any better or not probly not though.

If you're getting Sidewinder make sure its a USB version, if its a gameport it probably wont work...

nearly everyone who has gone from pad to wheel have been able to improove their times at a much faster rate, except a few drivers who are just as quick with the pad. i remember atc qs telling me that the reason he doesn't use a wheel is because of the lack of room on his desk. this isn't an issue for him tho as he is very quick with his ps2 pad.
