Bookmarking Servers
Not a huge improvement suggestion, but just a suggestion.

I wanted to play around at Bump & Jump CTRA servers and checked the raceauthority.com server status page and no one was on it, meaning i had to look through it in the empty servers list and an idea popped into my head. Ive searched for this, so if this has been suggested and i havent seen it, sorry .

The title says it all. In LFS there is "Join specific server". My idea is to add a bookmark feature in that part where your bookmarked servers can be clicked on and joined in. How to bookmark? I was thinking maybe on the servers list have a check box to bookmark a server or something like that, unless someone has another idea.

Im not a person that would go looking through the server list trying to find somewhere to race. I only race on about 5 different servers. (MNR, LFSEA, CTRA R1,SS,BNJ, PPR and thats about it).

Just a thought, might be a small handy feature especially for the servers that are empty.
Yeah, this was mentioned a few times already, but this is a feature which really is a "must have". Probably the reason why you didn't find anything using the search is that in games saving a server's name to a specific list isn't called bookmarking, afaik ... at least in every game that has MP i could only see "Favorites list" :P

Browse For Speed has a favourites list function, might be worth using it in the meantime.

Ah didnt think of "fav list".

Sorry for posting another thread of an already suggested feature, would be good if the devs had a look at this though lol!

I might use browse for speed in the meantime

Problem with this is when you use external mods that automatically start LFS or you use a batch file to start everything like I do. With the Browse For Speed, and all other ways to enter a server using LFSJoin.exe, it opens a new instance of LFS. Or at least it use to, I haven't tried LFSJoin for years.
And if you have a lower end system like me, it's another app running and sucking up resources better used on the game.
Although not the best thing, it works to some degree and I use it until something is added to LFS....

Either

make a txt file listing all your favourite servers and save it on the desktop. Top get the name of a server, right after you leave it, choose Join Specific Game, then click the server current name and then Ctrl+C to get its name. Then paste that name into the txt file and save the txt file. To join these crudely "bookmarked" servers, then reverse the method, highlight/copy the name from the txt file and paste the name back into Join Specific Game. Then click Go

OR

Make an LFS script file called eg: ../data/script/s.lfs

Add lines to it such as:
Quote :
echo Internode LFS #1
echo Internode LFS #2
echo Internode LFS #3

Then from ingame, before you choose Join Specific Game just type //s (same as /run s )
This will run the script and spam your chat with your favourite server names. Then use the "T" key, then Up Arrow to highlight the name and Ctrl+C then Paste into Join Specific Game menu by clicking the server name to edit and Ctrl+V to paste.

These ways you don't have to restart LFS each time, you either minimise it/window out or get a list in game chat. The only downside is you must edit the files manually if the server name changes or you want to add more. You have to manage any favourites lists anyway, but that's not very often and after a few run throughs, this process is quite fast and not as cumbersome as you might think. You're only typing...
//s
T
Up, Up, Up, Up,
Ctrl+C
Esc
Clicky Clicky mouse
Ctrl+V
Enter
---->Go (Enter)

Oh well, maybe I'm just lazy beyond comprehension and this is just my weird solution to "hopping server favourites" with as least effort as possible.
