Recovering lost LFS
I recently decided to install a fresh LFS, to get rid of all the crap but heres the thing, i forgot to save my wheel settings and now its all messed up and i cant drive, is there anyway to recover something i permanently deleted as it was too big to fit in my recycle bin, i have OLFSL at 17:00 so could do without this and finding a quick way to get it back. Anyone help?
i've never heard of anything being too big to fit in a recycling bin , maybe you could run a search for the file/folder, or if you have vista, when you click start, just type LFS (or folder name) into the search bit.
How would it search and find it? It's prema deleted, i deleted it and it said too big to fit in your recycle bin do you want to permanently delete it from your computer and i clicked yes oh!

I remember something where you could return your computer to how it was at a certain date, can't remeber how to do it though.

I have. You can allow the recycling bin to use a certain percentage of the hdd, and if that's smaller than the LFS folder, LFS won't fit in.

Pearcy, could you show us your wheel settings? We might be able to see what's wrong.

The recycle bin has a set size, depending on the size of your hard drive, normally a few gig.

As LFS doesn't add any registry stuff there is no need to uninstall like other application so you can just delete it. When you uninstall things it doesn't use the recycle bin.

Taking into account all the skins, setups any add-ons and replays it could easily get over a 2 or 3 gig which would make it too big for the recycle bin and you'd be told that and ask to permanently delete it. And you can't serach for something that been deleted.

I don't know if system restore would work how you want it do but it MIGHT be worth a try. If you just need wheel settings it might be best to just ask for help with that, then for next time you know what to do.
I remeber most of them 200 in profiler 540 in-game 10FFB 0 return rate etc but still doesn't feel the same im 70% sure my rotation is correct but the wheel in game turns alot more than mine, although its always been like that and i like it but now its turns a bit too much. Fells stiff too.

Is there anyway to get it back? or can i not get it back? Im on XP btw

You need to set the profiler rotation and in game rotation the same.

I use 540 as well and overall strength 103% and centre spring to 15% but that more personal preference.
Its not how i have it though, i liked it the way it was, when i set it the same i have to turn too much and its hard to make small movements of the wheel. Well i found it on my recent documents on RUN but it wont open it... Wel it hasnt say it wont but nothing has happened.

Then set the wheel rotation in game to less so that you don't have to turn the wheel as much.
It's on 540 and is turning too much

Anyway at the moment im not looking for advice about the wheel settings i just want to know if i can get my old LFS back. But thanks anyway.
Search for a recovery program, you'll get the file back if you're lucky.

look ingame on the Steering options what the value of steer rotation is.
Well actually i never looked at LFS wheel manual, just had a scan from the link and i chnaged my wheel settings in the device options not the edit/xxx hmmm need to have a play with this and if i can't get it to work ill use programs kiss me sent me, the system restore didn't work btw
Use google dude !

rcsetup114 has worked for me but there are a number of recovery programs out there, nothing is really deleted from your harddrive, only it's fat record.
If you haven't defraged your HD it's easily recovourable.

I didn't think it would.

You'll be much better off figuring out what settings you like so you know what to do in the future.
Endless list, id rather not figure it out right now before OLFSL Ive got it somewhat how i had it but cant be sure without the old one...

It is possible as when you delete stuff from you hard drive it doesn't really get deleted immediately, only the bits where the data is is marked as empty after which the OS can write on those bits. What this means is that the data can be quite easily restored if you are quick enough and do it before something gets overwritten. As time goes by data gets written over the bits where you previous data was.
Unfortunently for you, seeing as you deleted the stuff atleast 2 hours ago and you have been using your computer, the possibility of recovery is really small.

If you found the above explanation too technical here is a short answer to your case: No.
the only way you can return a deleted file is IF you instantly launched the program and recovered it.

You can't go surfing the internet since it can overwrite the hidden remains of your file with cookies
You can't install fresh stuff since it can overwrite the hidden remains of your file
You can't copy-paste since it can overwrite the hidden remains of your file
You can't touch your hdd with anything but the recovery program if you want your files back
Don't know what a hdd is but i think i did the top 3
HDD - Harddrive.
there is a program called partition magic it may help you

That's not 100% true though and you know it. If the data is on an area of the HDD that is unlikely to be written to just by loading up new programs etc, you have a fairly high chance of recovering the file(s). I've recovered numerous files sometimes many restarts and much usage etc.
