The online racing simulator
Need some help from LX Fans/Drivers.
I've been toying with the idea of setting up a server focused on the LX4. Using LFSLapper I hope to set it up to run races every half hour monday through friday, swapping over to races every hour on the weekend.

What I need a bit of a hand with is track selection. I want to have it cycle tracks every day, so what I need is seven tracks. I am simply not familiar with the LX, or to be honest many of the tracks. (I've pretty much lived on Blackwood my whole LFS life. :/ )

So, if any of you LX veterans can suggest some fun tracks, that wouldn't completely frustrate someone still learning their racecraft skills along with the LX itself, I would greatly appreciate it. As it stands:

Monday (30 min): Blackwood Standard
Tuesday (30 Min): ?
Wednesday (30 Min): ?
Thursday (30 Min): ?
Friday (30 Min): ?
Saturday (60 Min): ?
Sunday (60 Min): ?

I'm about to search through posts looking for good tracks for the LX anyone has ever mentioned, then go for a spin (most likely, literally.. ) but also welcome anyone pointing me in the right direction.

It´s still BL, but BL RallyX is very nice in the LX4 too.
Fern Bay is always good in the LX. I prefer the LX4 to the LX6, LX6 is too nose heavy and I can't drive it well with my controller, which is PS2 pad.
I love driving the LX cars, I seem to find them very easy to drive, where as some people can't handle them at all

I would be up for this.
Thanks for the suggestions so far, guys. Rally scares me, although I suppose the clouds of dust will hide my mistakes somewhat.

I'll post the server here when I get everything ready. I'm currently tinkering with Lapper to implement a basic points system and event manager of sorts. Will most likely grab a server from 500 servers before I finish my coding and get it up with the stock lapper with config edits when I get a decent track/lap rotation figured out.
LX6 @ AS1R provides amazing racing. Trust me.
That's a great idea. I've been having lots of fun with LX4 in the past few days. I struggle to keep it under control most of the time, but when you do get it right, it's immensely satisfying. I take it server will be up and running in the evenings US time?

As to the track suggestions, I have to agree with the Fern bay idea, especially the black config. Tight and twisty. Just what LX needs!
Any of the South City circuits would be good.

Oh, and don't forget to give us the name of the server when it's ready!
@Speedy Pro: The server will be 24/7. Just grabbed a 47 slot from 500 servers for the year. ( While not quite a cheapskate, I am a bargain hunter... with their half price offer I couldn't pass up the yearly deal especially with the great service they provided me the last time I ran a server.)

@dungbeetle: Will be sure to post it here once I get things a bit straightened out. Have it up now running the LX4 on Blackwood with it set for 10 laps and stock lapper. Got a little more tinkering to do before I'd be happy posting it.

What originally an attempt to try and get some of my friends as hopelessly addicted to LFS as I am just sort ballooned into something a bit more. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm hoping to have it set up for regular short races during the week and longer races on the weekends. Have a teamspeak server setup, and soon will have the website going live.Depending on how quickly I can wrap my head around C# and Insim, I hope to have a point system in place, along with a few other goodies sometime in the near future. Who knows, if in a few months I can build up enough regular drivers who are interested, I may set aside a bigger chunk of time on the weekend for a bigger event/race series.

my shortlist:

south city chicane
South city sprint1
aston cadat rev
aston north
fernbay gold rev
fernbay club rev
For learning the LX4, FE Black (FE4) isn't the best choice, IMHO. I'd recommend Fern Bay Green Reversed (FE2R). Aston Club (AS2/R) is considered good track for slower cars. Hard to choose from South City, Town (SO5) maybe and if you haven't gotten enough of Blackwood, the Reversed configuration (BL1R) has provided many good races in the past. In general, I would suggest starting with the shorter tracks: Fern Bay Club for instance (FE1) provides an opportunity to learn 'that' chicane there, which would be useful when progressing from FE2 to Gold (FE3) later. It's very hard to recommend anything, you just have to experience yourself, there aren't that many tracks, really..

South City circuits please !!
Thanks for the input, everyone. More combos for me to check out.

I'm hoping to get a decent mix of tracks that veterans of the car would enjoy without them being too unwieldy for beginners. Perhaps I'd be better off just going for a good mix and tagging a couple of the day/track combos as "beginner friendly".

I've just never been a big fan of random track cycling, or just keeping a single track up. So I figured I'd try and find a setup that I'd enjoy along with my friends and hopefully pull in some LFS veterans along the way to show us how its done and have some fun. Oh well, I got some time to hash all this out as I still got a bit to go with my coding.
A properly organized LX server sounds very good to me! And it sure is nice to ask the becoming users what they want to drive.

But I'm afraid people will just throw in the same combos they're already used to. There's always this Aston Club, which people have a great number of laps on. Same goes to Fern Bay Club (reversed or not) and South City Classic. These tracks are already raced to death even though there are some more interesting alternatives like Fern Bay Gold or Black. Fern Bay Black could quite possibly scare the beginners away, which is a shame. As a track it would be an effective learning experience, you would have to turn your steering wheel every now and then.

LX4's relatively low top speed makes it a bit questionable to use it on longer and wider tracks as many Aston configurations, Kyoto and Westhill. If you're looking for tracks that suit your car, South City and Fern bay are the places to go. It's just a bit difficult to find fresh combos there anymore. (which makes room for the Aston Cadet reversed suggestion.)

In general, I'd vote for the tracks with more than three corners in them.
Fern bay was pretty much designed with the LX in mind. Any of the variations suit the LXs very well, very technical and not too open like weshill or aston.

South city is a good choice too, you'll end up with a lot of bent LXs though.

Try to bear in mind that the LX4 is more fun on a medium/tight track, and the LX6s suit a big wide open space. IMHO you should pick a track based on it's suitability for the LX4 as it's the 'sweeter' car to drive, and you'll end up with more satisfied punters that way.
So far I've run through, and watched full grid AI run these tracks so far:

Fern Bay Green reversed
Blackwood reversed
Aston Cadet reversed
South City Chicane
South City Town
Fern Bay Black

I have to say I enjoyed all the tracks, even if I wasn't very good at a few of them. If I do go with Fern Bay Black (Which even as a beginner in the LX, I *really* enjoyed.) it will definitely be slotted in the longer race rotation day. I kept thinking.. "I haven't finished a lap yet?"

Speaking of which, what are your opinions on track changing each day? Too much, too little?

Guess I've reached the point of just coming out an asking, what would you guys like to see in an LX server? Feel free to hit me with any ideas that have ever crossed your mind here or in PM. I have a bunch of ideas myself, but they come from more of a competitive gamer background than a motorsports fan background and I sometimes I have to stop myself from going a bit too far. So... Let me hear your ideas, just nothing too bizarre, ok?

we're organizing weekly lx racing on volvolandia, maybe you can get some ideas from the tracks we did run for the past year; http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=33952

good luck with your server, I hope you can get some of the lx addicts back to online racing

Different track each day but the same track for each day of the week for a set time, like one month. That way it will change enough for the regulars and be predicatable enough for the less regular LFSer
All small tracks are good for that lil beast
ky3r i just done 33 laps in lx6 woooow is all i can say
My suggestion : LX6 on as3. I drived this combo on a race league, and it was very fun

Well... This is supposed to be an LX4 server, not LX6. This has nothing to do with my opinions, I would actually prefer LX6 but the car seems to be decided already.

AS3 aka Aston National is probably the most overused track configuration around. And this has nothing to do with my opinions either, it's just a plain fact. Again Aston National mostly consists of straights and is very wide, so it's not very suited for interesting racing with a slow, manouverable LX4.

Of course I'm glad you had fun on that combo but certainly I hope this server would be special enough to not use that track and choose some more interesting ones instead.

Although it's a good rotation plan, Glenn, the only problem might be that if someone can't make a certain night of the week due to other commitments, they'll never get to race that track.

Which is why I said for a time period for something like one month then it changes to another selection of tracks or just shuffles the previous selection

A whole MONTH!

OK, maybe I am a little impatient ...
