Help with 3D render
I was trying to render following this tutorial: http://en.lfsmanual.net/wiki/3D_Render_Tutorial

but i find out that it is pretty old.

First it needs 3D max 7 to get the cmx importer working (lucky i found it), then when it says to fix some materials and use the TGA images, i can't find it in the lfs or cmx viewer folder (maybe lfs don't use it anymore?).
If things wasn't hard enough, the Brazill r/s used in the tutorial is much older than the one i have (and i can't find anywhere the older one), so the options was too different from each other.

So, the point is: can someone update the tutorial, or tell me how to do this?

i also tried to download some renders, but it says that is missing some files (like the older brazil r/s ¬¬' )

Hey, well you have old news too.
This is really old tutorial, and now its more easier, even i used this.
Just go to this page : http://ds-autos.digiserv.net/scenes/lfs
And download scene what you want, open it trough 3ds max and play around with it as you want.

Cheers.

Okey, for the TGA's: Select Browse at the missing bitmap windows and browse to the "images" folder that came with the scene.
Whats rendering i dunno and I'm new is it for s2 only?
Rendering takes the 3d model of a LFS car (or whatever you choose to model ) and "renders" a picture of it.

This is done when playing a game, except its very, very, very fast

Just wait for some rendering boffin to come in here & tell you more. I've only just started myself !

Sarge.

EDIT: Fundamental info: You demo racers can do it too. Check the link below for a guide to newbie rendering !

'Rendering' is taking a 3D model and applying visual effects to it, usually using realistic lighting to give the illusion that it's a real object and not just points connected by lines.

As Equinox said, this happens in any 3D game, where the 3D model of the object is lit and shaded to make it look solid - in LFS this is done using a lot of shortcuts so it can be done at 30 frames a second or more. The rendering discussed in this section of the forum uses much more sophisticated methods to light the same objects giving a much more realistic effect, but meaning rather than 30 images a second, it can take many hours to render an image.

One of the nicest renders I've seen for a while is Mr Phonso's M3 from the thread a while back - notice the lighting and model are FAR better than the ones used in LFS:

http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=27114&page=1 In the thread you can see how he's built the model.
