I personally hate the the things and can't see why anyone would want one, but people should be allowed to own them - there should however be vastly more checks first to make sure you're not a mental-case, that you can use it properly and sensibly and that you have a safe place to keep it, and this should be rechecked from time to time.

And you should have to have a bloody good reason to carry one on you, 'because I want to' isn't good enough.

Mice dont last 5 seconds in my house, I get several come in every week as I leave my back door open during the day and my house backs onto fields. Luckily, I have two cats and provided the mices aren't running over my foot i'm totally cool about them now and can ignore them, safe in the knowledge they have only a few minutes left. The other great thing is I dont have to buy my cats toys, there's an ample supply just wandering in.

As for the case in question, well I always say if you have a weapon then sooner or later you are going to use it. This is why I preffer not to carry anything myself.

I don't care if they shoot each other up in their own country.

Sorry to interupt the jokes, but citiznes owning guns have been stopping robbers, and criminals for decades in america. I get a NRA journal every month and inside there is a section that recalls the stories a people getting robbed in their own house, but the tides turn when they pull out their gun.

Sadly Obama dosent see this and wishes to rid of them.

I even take it step further. I wander around the streets with my gun and shoot anyone who looks like they might eventually rob my house. Nothing like proactive crime fighting!

Why don't they have a license system in the USA for guns. You have to apply to a court for a gun license and you must prove that you are responsible enough to carry a gun thats capable of killing you and others around with you.

As it is now you can just walk into a gun store and buy a gun then go shoot someone. Shouldn't really be like that, to be honest.
