Do different skins affect the way you drive?
Bit of a strange one this.....

Does your mood or style of driving change when you switch between different skins for the same car? illepall
Imagine u were in a team who uses a ugly skin....

...so yes I guess it will affect ur motivation.
Yeah I guess shortly after you change a skin there will be atleast an subconscious effect on your driving, either positive or negative. Which exactly most probably alters from person to person.

I reckon a selfmade skin will have a greater influence, though.

nonononono

british racing green is fastest :P
Some insurance statistics once showed certain car colours had higher accident rates... iirc red & black were above average whilst beige was below average.

However, it subsequently turned out that the stats were putting the cart before the horse & it was more a question of what colour was more likely to appeal to different types of driver - eg what 17yo is going to buy a beige car?

as they say 'there's lies, damn lies & statistics'
I've got an article in from the New Scientist where a study group looked into all the football teams in the European Premier leagues. They discovered that those teams that predominatly wore red as their team colour won more often than not. Those teams that wore dower colours or darker ones lost more often than not . . . So, I'm not sure how your own skinning might effect you but there is a reason why red it associated with winning and speed . . . Sci-en-triffic that is. So if you want to be a winner make sure you get a lot of red in your skin, I'm off to change my base colour right now . . .

Hey, my first car was beige!!!! A beige 1983 Ford Escort 4door automatic to be exact. Ok, I didn't buy it, was a hand-me-down from the parents. My actual first one that I purchased myself was white and now my current truck is white. LOL, and I guess you could call my Altima beige, but it is more the wife's.
Yes it affects. For example I'm extremely crap driver when using this skin.

well i have dukes of hazzard skin for a fx gti and its makeing drive like the good old boys bo duke and luke duke but i drive relly like bo duke drivers man the way he takes the conners its like a drift. but yes the skin made me go faster and better then before.
Hmmmm
No, because I can't actually see the outside of the car when I'm on the inside illepall

Although, any skin that gives me pink rollbars in a GTR makes me drive more carefully - feels like it's my girlfriend's car

@deggis: great skin got a public version?

Thanks!

Ah yes, Chelsea have a lot to answer for. Actually, all things considered they have played bloody well. But this might be slightly off topic. So the moral of the story be, make your car red or blue. Then you might win.
Yea but they didn't win did they . . .what won? A blue car!!

My god, my theory stands true!! Suppose there is a first time for everything . . .

lol!! Team Dynamics won the BTCC in an Orange car... Orange is kinda like red!! So YES the theory does stand true!!
To be honest I really think that having a unique looking car changes the way the others drive. I noticed that people more often make way or say "sorry", i.e. treat you with more respect when they see you in your supercar instead of default skins/color.
I have a fully sick turbo suboowfer skin for my uf1000 that makes me drive a little silly.
I seem to notice that when using a non-teamskin, I drive a little slower times, and I may go off here or there on some occasions. But, when using a teamskin, I drive as clean and fast as I possibly can.... I'm not one that likes to make his team look bad.
my xrt skins have the amuse exhaust and that seems to give them some engine response.
Sure...

Racing skins I like to race seriously...

But if you see me with a bright shade of pink /w yellow wheels, I be tard drivin

However there is one thing I usually use for phsycological damage for my opponents when racing. Use a BRIGHT color (such as yellow or red), and when you are chasing them, they know who is behind them and in their mirrors. It intimidates them, and usually it works. A few have told me that they got under pressure once they saw a yellow car coming up behind them . Colors make you noticeable when racing. Also I like to use bright colors so idiots can see me! For example when side by side, it helps to have a car that is bright colored so the guy sees you on the inside or what not (like if the nose comes into view).
