The online racing simulator
Willing to host races -Details Inside-
I've recently upgraded my internet service to the best available in my tri-state area, and so I'd like to host races, like, special events and stuff. I dunno much about this, and I'm not even sure if my internet service is even all that great, but I now have a ton of bandwidth, and I barely use it. Actually the reason I upgraded was because I wanted a very fast upload capability for sending files to friends, and to host matches of Quake 4, and a few other games.

I can host anytime from 4pm Est. U.S.A. up to anytime, as late as 4-5am. So for those who'd like to run 16/24 hour events, I can do this as well, as long as I can give admin rights to someone else, while I sleep hehe.

I'm very very lucky, I live less than a mile from my ISP, where the hub is that I connect to, and the best part, there must not be anyone at all using much bandwith on the line I'm connected to, because unlike most people, even friends/family that are local and use the same service, I get 100% of their advertised speeds, where most ppl get only 60-80% of their possible speeds.

So is 15MB down, and 2MB up good for hosting? Because before I had 10MB down, and 800kps up, and I hosted as many as 12 racers before, and everyone pinged very well and had no issues at all. Recently the most I've done is 18 players in the game Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, everyone pinged me very well, with no lag at all.

And so, if this is sufficient, I'd like to donate some bandwidth and help with hosting for anyone that's interested, I pay hard earned $ and I'd like to get as much use out of this service as I can. Btw, I had two ppl from europe connected playing the W:ET game, one from germany the other the UK, both pinged at under 100ms, so I feel that LFS may work great.

If it matters, my logical upload is around 250-275kb/sec and 1.75mb/sec down. I ping my ISP at 2-4ms, east coast servers between 10-25ms, west coast around 35-50, and europe(good servers) many below 100, never more than 125, except for bad servers.

Anyone interested post away, or PM. Also anyone that can tell me if this is a good idea, concerning my speed and the performance I should expect, feel free to post opinions, thanks, and I hope to be hosting races. I love this simulator, and I'd be happy to host for anyone.

Edit: Testing using www.Speedtest.net using the NYC server I was able to hit 14664 down and 1983 up. It's a great site for testing your bandwidth, I recommend testing in the morning, afternoon, and very late to see how busy your specific line can get.
Great initiative! I have 0 clue about the technical stuff, but it's great that you want to share this with the community. Hope it works out well.
Very nice thing to do with your new found connection. Jelous, officially.
