Rock - Old and new, Metal, Punk, Light rock, indie etc.

Rap - Old and New, electro, drum and bass, rap, gangster rap etc.

Neither - anything else, like classical or folk?

Rap/Techno together doesn't make much sense, does it?

Are pointless polls going to become a regular thing with you?

Can I ask you to please never use the term 'indie' ever again, it is a method of prduction/promotion that has been incorectly used as a label for a genre of music which should be known as 'post-punk revival'.

Hence why I asked if this is going to be a regular thing. Because if it is I want to welcome you to my ignore list. "Techno" is also an incorrect term.

Techno is subgenre of electronica/dance music, not a general term for anything that goes doosh doosh doosh

The problem is that it's a thread that's been posted for the sake of posting a thread. You didn't give any thought to the poll options, you just felt like starting a thread and you did so. It's spam, basically, and it's not what this forum is here for.

Perhaps we'll get a really good and interesting discussion about music genres going. That would create some value to the thread. It's going to take something like that to turn things around and save this thread, tbh.

Those are the best things that happened to the world since people actually started to think that orchestra music and opera were (enormously) boring. Then came rock, Hendrix, concerts and metal.

That's what i was trying to do, i just made a few mistakes. Im probably one of the youngest people on this forum and i have'nt been here very long. But i see your point and i'll try to think more about my next poll (if i
do anymore)

well, i was mostly interested in rock v rap, because i get alot of grief from having long hair and listening to metal ("OMGZ YOO IZ EMO BWAII!1!!!!11") and i just wanted to see what the LFS community thought, that option was added for those who listen to neither.

I was listening to rap when I was young and stupid (16-18 years old or so) I remember that the "old town" part of Riga was very territorial between rap and metal listeners. So, I guess it's natural everywhere for that sort of rivalry (correct word?) to happen... I do believe it's quite stupid to pretend to be a "gangsta from the ghetto" while you aren't, but that's not the point. If they call you "emo" and so on, you should prove them wrong... a nice punch in the face usually works

Nah, take it back 10 years further, Sabbath, Deep Purple occasionally Zeppelin too. Thats proper metal, I have to agree that most modern metal is shit though.

There's also nothing like a bit of The Smiths to cheer you up on a rainy Monday morning.
