PRICE?
because i have the driving force pro and i need to now if its worth it to buy the porshe 911 turbo wheel GT3 wheel or logy G25 or i expect big difference tho
i recommend the g25, because you have much metal there and it has a long life i have mine since 1,5 years and i have still no problems. all my other wheel broke down withing 6 months so far
^^ This wheel, if you choose the clubsport package with the new loadcell braking system should be pretty nice. FYI - There are 2 package of GT3 RS: One with out pedals for use with G25 pedals or if you have stand alone pedal system. The other has the clubsport.
^^I would say ixnay on the DFP and get the DF GT if you want logitech in this price range. DF GT is way beyond the technology of the DFP and the cost is very, very close. No more then 20 or so US dollars.
^^ Great Wheel set and you can't go wrong. I think though with Fanatec putting out some amazing products like that GT3 RS clubsport edition the G25 will not be kind of the hill that much longer. I would bet logitech is gearing up to compete with Fanatec, though nothing has been officially announced that I know of.
^^ This is looking to be one of the best, if not the best band for you buck wheel, pedal and shifter set. The guys at insidesimracing.tv said they are using this wheel instead of their G25 wheel. They claim it is better then the G25 and at around 100 USD less then the g25 it is a steal.
My vote is to wait for more reviews on the GT3, since that one sounds like a G25 killer and it's about the same cost @ 289 euros. The other fanatec wheels besides the 911 wheel are below the G25 IMO (wireless pedals? no thanks!) and the difference between the GT3 and 911 wheel is almost non existant (illuminated buttons and a free USB key). Also every fanatec wheel has a crap shifter mount, just so you know.
As for drifting, the GT3 has a strong FF motor made by mabuchi and is supposed to be really strong, plus belt drive, so it's smoother than the G25. Then there are the pedals, all metal, load cell on the brake, fully adjustable travel and resistance, beat the pants off the G25's already decent pedals.
There are a few problems though.
1 It's not on the market yet so there are no "real" reviews yet.
2 The G27 rumors are getting louder.
3 The G25 is a solid wheel too. I've had mine for over a year and not one issue so far. Though I did upgrade it with the nixim mod and the bodnar box.
BTW, if you have a G25 you NEED to read the reviews on Leo Bodnar's USB controller for the pedals. And after reading them, buy it, trust me.
Here is SRT's review of the clubsport pedals (that come with the GT3 package deal for 289) Though they are reviewing the cheapo fanatec wheel with it, not the GT3 yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPwGMCflpVs
EDIT:
I'm assuming you are fine with spending around $300 on a wheel, if not, the Fanatec carrera wheel Jbird mentioned is supposed to beat the pants of the DFGT or the poor old momo. Though the DFGT is a solid choice too.
tnx for the answers guys
i gonna think to buy g25 or the porshe wheel
because i watch the videos in youtube of the G25 and its very quiet and i can play when the others are sleeping but the porshe wheel its pretty noisy
seeing as i've never bought another wheel than the g25, i can't vouch for it's noise level, but as long as you don't slam on the gas or shift the gearbox like a madman, it shouldn't be all that loud. the wheel motors do make a little noise while turning the wheel, but it's not overly loud... not any more than i would expect from a power steering pump.
Ultrataco, the nixim mod is a small chunk of rubber you put into your brake pedal, it just increases resistance. The "bodnar box" is a small usb box that you plug your pedals into. It changes the resolution of your pedals from 256 to 1024 steps, some people say it makes the wheel input smoother too since it now is doing less work.
There is a 10 page review thread on iRacings member site, but there is a decent review here too:
Potentiometers have certain coil-thickness that contributes to number of steps it has. G25 pedal pots don't seem to have very thin coils that would give you 1024 steps, also they're not even being used for their full range (try turning pots beyond pedal movement limits and input is still linear).
Simply increasing output resolution to drivers does not magically make pedal pots more accurate.
No actually the Porsche Wheel is much quieter than the G25. I have both and have no worries going lock to lock with my Porsche wheel and I live in a bungalow too!
Yes, G25 is very quiet as new but especially force feedback gets really loud as time goes on. Mine has a noticable FFB gap in middle where it makes awful noise when you hit rough bumps or rumble strips. Noise from turning wheel itself isn't too bad tho, unless it's been out of use for week or two and then it makes really bad noise for first few laps.
Option that I've been considering is Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo Wheel with G25 pedals. Clubsport pedals seem really good but 200€ just for pedals is little bit expensive, although much cheaper real high end pedal sets.
Ιm not a technician but from the first day i used my braking in iRacing was much smoother.I managed to brake later and more accurate. Also i noticed a more detailed ffb.
that could still be true... with splitting up the wheel and pedals you split up the data stream for your inputs... but that should only make a difference if the stream was being overloaded in the first place...
I don't know exactly where some on in Bulgaria would buy a G25, so my best guess was logitech website. Maybe there are better places I am unaware of since I don't have a need to find a logitech product there.
That said:
The G25 is 349 EUR on the logitech website.
The Fanatec GT3 RS does come in a club sport package as posted on the website and I'm sure this couldn't be missed. So the pedals in that package are included.
The GT3 RS with Clubsport pedals is 289.95EUR
The GT3 RS with out any pedals is 169.95EUR
The Clubsport Pedals alone are 199.95EUR
If you get them separate, then yes. GT3 RS is more expensive.
From my limited perspective of the situation it appears the GT3 RS is less expensive compared to ordering a G25 from the manufactures website. But, I am sure there are other places to buy the G25 for less.
Either I or Hotmail is misinformed. If I am the one missing something let me know.
The Clubsport pedals, as I have mentioned many times before on these forums, it looking to be a benchmark for high end 'mainstream' sim racing products. IMO the pedals are more important then the wheel. I was going to buy a set of Clubsports when they are released, but I had the oportunity to buy a full set of CST pedals and I had to go for the CSTs. In 4-5 weeks I will have my CSTs and I am pretty excited. High End 'custom' products (fi you will) like the CST pedals are what inspired the technology being put into the Clubsport pedals. This is the first time a set of pedals with kind of quality have been released at this low of a price. I believe this is where all pedals for sim racing are going.
To not really consider purchasing the GT3 RS Clubsport editions is a almost a crime when you can get a great deal with the wheel and pedals bundled together for way less then separate. When the clubsports are released the G25 pedals will be dwarfed in it's shadow. I know this is a bold statement, but I believe it to be true and time will tell us. I am sure some think I am some kind of anti logitech gamer that is cheering for the little guy because I hate the big bad logitech. Not true. I have owned 3 logitech wheels and I have never bought a Fanatec product. I like logitech and recommend their products to many people and even friends. But after paying attention to Fanatec, they are in this to make amazing products clearly. With real competition coming, logitech will produce even better products too.
Maybe, maybe not. I've got one installed in front of me, opened the calibration window and DXtweak2 both, and they both show 0-1023 steps, and the numbers change 1 at a time when I move the pedals. So there it is. Maybe there is some sort of interpolation involved but it works.
There is also a new loadcell add-on for the G25 pedals too, I'll be installing mine soon enough and I'll let you all know how it works. Here's a picture. http://www.mindspring.com/~colin.maclean/brake.jpg
G25, the only thing i don't like is the lack of more buttons and maybe the D-Pad on the wheel (the only thing i actually liked about the Driving force pro was the buttons on the wheel) But for feel, it beats everything else i've used.
Just remember not to be TOO hard on the shifter, it's not as strong as a real gearbox, use it gently
