in phpbb, they have a search function that displays the most recently-replied threads, which they consider "active topics"... makes looking through recently-replied (but not replied by you) threads easy so you don't have to view each category to see what people are talking about.

i wish lfsforum was using phpbb.

(i know this isn't a bug, but i wasn't sure if it suited this category more than the defacto "improvement suggestions". feel free to move it.)
Quote from SilverArrows77 :ummm that sounds rather like what the "New Posts" link does mate? (inbetween race calender and Search) otherwise im misunderstanding you..

(clicks)

yeah, i think that might be it.

why did they choose vbulletin anyways? it's so ugly.
It's the same on phpBB by the way, active topics are not just the most recent posts but exactly what the name suggests: active topics. To get all the posts posted since your last visit, you have to click "New posts" on phpBB too

It's up to the admin to decide which categories / forums can contain active topics.
Not quite correct, sorry. It's up to them if a list of active topics is displayed at the bottom of each category's viewforum page.

hmm, yeah i just noticed that... strange that i didn't before, considering i revamped the subsilver2 template on my own forum, moving all those search links to a common location. i think i'd still rather "active topics" than "new since last visit".
