Yep, it almost this time a year again.

200 teams that signed up are already known, containing everything from the obligatory horde of 911s, Honda Civis and M3s to two new works Peugeot RCZ HDi, Chriskart in a Audi TT and some jokers like an 6,0 Liter W12(!) Audi A8.
A lot more GT3 and GT4 teams than last year will participate , since they can collect points for their respective leagues now.

So, finally a provisional starter list has been made public. Besides the dozens of Porsches and all kind of Beemers, we have the first Ferrari, a 430 GT2, a Ginetta G50, the Audi W12, two Lotus Exige, a Megane Trophy with Biodiesel, ect etc, see for yourself

Its 20 pages and 250 teams for now. The slowest 20 in training won't be allowed to start iirc

Hmm I seriously hope that last weekend's fatal accident of Leo Löwenstein at the Nordschleife won't influence the 24h too much... I've already read about the people demanding an instant closure of the Nordschleife...
What is kind of mysterious to me is that last year it was said the max grid was reduced to 190 to make it less risky, and now it's max grid 230 again?
However, great decision by the DMSB to make an inter-league German GT3-Championship and including the 24h in it

Afaik they changed the rule again, more cars but less slower ones, thats why classes SP1 and SP2 are not allowed to start (even if some of them are faster than higher class fatties, like the Derich Audi V8, 3 gear AT hrmhrm)

And the requirements to qualify as driver are higher, some years ago you'd only need to take that Nordschleife crash course, now a international C-Licence and at least 2 races on it before the 24h, in the last two(?) years. Remember when all the wannabe VIPs were allowed to race.

btw, the Audi W12 did a 13 minute round the track in training, faster than some Civic and a diesel beemer

There will be two streams one in "standard" dsl quality and a "premium" stream for people with faster connections (2mbit), they will start broadcasting may 15th at 2.30 pm central european summer time (12.30 utc).

well, my trip there is canceled. I had my car MOT'd (TÜV) today, and for whatever reason the ECU is ****ed now. I dunno what really happened, mechanic told me there was an error in the ECU before that, but I never noticed anything wrong with the car. He estimated an overall 500€ to get it going again ... :banghead:

I'll see what I do about it, 2nd opinion is a must For now I follow the race in TV and online, its going to rain anyway

Holy crap... This link is buffering like hell... Any lower bit rate streams? Can't catch half of the massive fire right now because the damn thing keeps pausing to buffer!
