Getting new computer
So, I might be getting this touchscreen PC..
Advent MT22 22"

I would like to know if its a good buy comparing to my recent laptop which i've used playing lfs.

The advent's spec are here:
Intel Dual-Core T4400 Procesor
2.2GHz, 1MB cache
Genuine Windows (R) 7 Home prerium
3GB DDR2 memory
640GB Hard drive
Integrated graphics
NVIDIA ION 9300, memory 256MB
21.5" screen

That's the basics I think, im definitely an expert on these things and ask me more if you want to know more etc. Here's basic things off my recent laptop:

Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU T2390 @ 1.86GHz
17" screen
3GB memory
Vista Prerium
ATI Radeon HD 2400

meh.. just ask more if needed.

Sssoo.. which one will you fellow LFS'ers prefer. Stick with the laptop or switch to a new PC? help needed
and why are you getting touchscreen? you can get much more for the money if it wasn't.

if its for you then you should get to choose.
its decent, its a little better than your laptop.
I've tried a touch screen for a couples of days, after two days my shoulders started to hurt and I was using the mouse and kb most of the time. I think unless you want to make some kind of remote control they are pretty useless for home users. I also didn't like the dirty screen all the time, forget about eating chips behind your pc ....

Good luck!

Off topic alot, but: I've always wondered, can you use touch screen in FPS games? That would be sick.

that would have been a "ok" pc about 3-4 years ago.

Lets not talk about "pro" computers now. Just which one would you prefer without thinking that the PC is touchscreen. It has Tv inside of it and others things that I personally need or find useful.

Which one would you go for, which comp would be better to play lfs.
Yea thats a really crappy spec computer, Is it a 2nd hand reconditioned pc?...

Better ebaying up a new build quad core with 6GB ram pc for under £400...

Will come with better gfx too...

U wont be able to upgrade the gfx card on that touchscreen either so its always going to have poor gfx performance...

Its a low end pc and if its still priced at >£500 then its a ripoff... U could get a high spec pc that would last for ages for less money...
i wouldn't go for any of them. none are designed for gaming. even at a beginner level. the laptop has a low end ati. the touch screen has a low end 9000 series nvidia. it's only £30 for a pci(or usb) tv receiver so that can be put onto any pc. and i don't think you'll use that touch screen enough for you to take such a big performance hit on the rest of the machine.
if that was the only option, only buy the touch screen and hook it up to the laptop. at least that way you will be saving some money.
but being honest, you're setting yourself up for a massive disappointment.
Yh.. The thing is here also that my parents really want to buy this, i seriously have no idea why.. im trying to speak to them about getting some other but meh
ask them why they want a touch screen. ask them to explain the benifits to this new input device. ask them if they have used a tablet. there's some really good tablets out there which would offer much more in terms of functionallity.
Meh. Because it works as a TV, such a big screen, touchscreen (which i dont really want).
They just say that i'll love it when i get to use it
tellin you dude, big mistake. you can get a 22" monitor for about £110 these days. + £30 for a freeview dongle. that's £140 for what you said. the rest is a gimik to fool people into buying something they do not need.
but, it's your money so it's your call at the end of the day.
Tell them ud rather have a decent real pc instead of a basic thing with a useless touchscreen thats a pain to use when its sitting on a desk...

By the end of the year it will be really outdated and slow...

Touchscreens are a load of crap anyways and the 1 u listed has got a low review score due to being too shiny and unresponsive garbage, Especially being from Advent...

Better getting a modern high spec'd full feature pc that will last instead of that ancient hardware, Non upgradable, Poor review piece of turd...
