I've had my xbox 360 for just under three years now and although I haven't had a RROD, it has experienced some significant wear in this amount of time. Between me and my brothers it has averaged probably 4-5 hours a day since we got it. While the console itself is full of dust, dirty, and creaks when it runs, it has never been an issue. Unfortunately, my controllers are shot.
On both of our controllers the sticks have suffered some inevitable wear and tear. The rubber tops themselves have been worn smooth, but I have gotten use to this. My #1 problem is that the sticks have become "loose." Essentially, as time has gone on they have lost their ability to center themselves when I take my finger off the stick. This started out as maybe a a millimeter in the forward direction, but one some sticks it has gottent to the poin where I can go full tilt in any direction without any resistance. This makes any game which requires the sticks pretty much impossible as the slightest flick leads to maximum lock. Before I go out and buy a new controller, I was hoping that there is some way to fix this. As far as I know, after about 40 google results, there isn't anything short of soldering a new stick on (I'd have to buy a new stick for this, thus defeating the whole point of going through all this trouble). Any ideas on how to fix this? My only requirement is that I not spend money.
Also, please no xbox flaming as this also happened to my old PS2 and I'm sure it will be a reoccuring problem for future systems.
