New Signs
Here's my first contribution to the LFS community, I hope you like it.

This is a sign for Fern Bay. It takes the place of the largest sign there, the big "Ice White" beer sign. This is a Budweiser sign. Get onto the Fern Bay Green track, drive about half way around the track and you'll see it.

Before downloading this, navigate to your "LFS\data\pic" directory and rename the file "FE_ADS2.jpg" to "FE_ADS2_original.jpg" so that it won't get overwritten. Plus, that way, if you ever wish to revert back to the original sign, you can simply delete the Bud sign and rename the original back. Anyway, download this image and save it to your "LFS\data\pic" directory. If you already have LFS running, you may have to exit out and start it up again for the new sign to show up.

Some may think this sign is too perfect looking. But, Fern Bay looks like a fairly new facility and this sign looks like a brand new sign.

Or if you prefer, here is a different sign for that same location. This one is a Venom Energy sign. For those who do not know, Venom Energy is an energy drink produced by the Dr Pepper Seven Up company. I gave this one a different name, "FE_ADS2_alt.jpg" so that the filename wouldn't conflict with the Budweiser sign. In order for it to show up on the track, you'll have to rename it to "FE_ADS2.jpg".

Enjoy...

Very nice mate.

Just a suggestion, but the other signs on FB are pretty much all faded, old, sunbleached and quite damaged. It might be an idea for future releases, to include some more weathering

I will update these two with some weathering. Maybe I can even add an effect to make them look like real vinyl covered signs. I'll add a couple of years of sun to them.

OK, here's the Bud sign and it looks like it was originally mounted about 4 or 5 years ago as it's been sitting in the Jamaican sun for awhile.

You won't see any chipped paint on this sign because this is ink printed on vinyl. It just gets an overall sun fade and is worse at the edges where the vinyl gets drawn tight to the board. Zoom in and you'll see the reinforced vinyl material.

If Budweiser was paying for this, they would be sending the track a new vinyl sign to install.

You'll have to rename this to "FE_ADS2.jpg" to be able to use it.

And here's the same deal with the Venom Energy sign. It no longer looks as good as new.

Really nice work - maybe make the dis-colouration a little less even?
Quote from shaun463 :Really nice work - maybe make the dis-colouration a little less even?

That's not a problem, but from what I've usually noticed, vinyl printed signs tend to fade quite evenly over the entire surface, not just in certain spots. But this is also why I faded the edges almost entirely because there is a lot of tension there and the ink tends to fade more.

I think he means like less intense, not as in "even" varying of color.
Quote from Bmxtwins :I think he means like less intense, not as in "even" varying of color.

You had me confused for a minute until I went back and read his post about 3 times and then realized that "even" was an added word to the sentence such as:

"Really nice work - maybe make the dis-colouration a little less... even?

or "Really nice work - maybe even make the dis-colouration a little less?

Actually I was afraid to fade the colors too much for fear it wouldn't look good or be acceptable by anyone. Fading the signs a little more is not a problem. The trick to making it look right since it's simulating a reinforced vinyl material is to fade the high spots of the material to almost white since the low spots are shielded in their own shadows, they don't fade as much. The ink is printed on a white vinyl so when it fades it starts turning white. The white could even discolor into a yellowish tint.

You guys sure you want the signs to look that bad?

I've also created a small set of signs for Blackwood today but can't test them out until I get home tonight and load them into LFS and go for a cruise to see how they look. I'll upload them here later tonight.

OK, here's a really bad Budweiser sign that is probably way overdue for replacement. But if this is what you want, then this is what you get!

Look close and you can still see where the vinyl was folded when it was first shipped from the USA to Jamaica.

Here's a badly faded Venom Energy sign. You can see the original folds in the vinyl on this one too. This sign really needs to be replaced!

Hehe, love the back stories Nice job mate.
I love them, most sign packs for FE aren't sun bleached

Any chance you'd do a pack for FE?

Sure, it's not difficult at all. Here is one to start out with. This is the FE_ADS5.jpg file. I only changed the upper sign on this one so that the other 3 websites could remain advertised. This removes the CarribAir sign and adds sponsorship from the Dr Pepper/Seven Up company. After all, isn't that what is served in the concession stands at the track along with the Budweiser?

CarribAir appeared to be painted onto the boards. In this new case, the Dr Pepper and 7up are printed on vinyl stickers and applied to the boards. The sun has faded them somewhat over the past few years.

Compare the difference to the second file attached to this message. This is how the stickers looked when they were new. Some of you may prefer the new stickers.

Our of courtesy, I left the "liveforspeed.de" sign on this one.

This has Budweiser painted on the upper sign board. The paint has faded a little and apparently the white paint wasn't very good because some of it has chipped away. The blue held up fairly well other than for some color fade.

On the lower sign board, the Ice White Beer is still there, except it has been covered up with a Budweiser vinyl banner tied to the board. These banners don't last very long and have to be replaced every year if they are allowed to hang every day. This one is showing some fading. The Fern Bay managers are waiting for their next sponsorship check from Budweiser. When that comes, they will redo this sign properly.

Here's another one. On this set, the lower left sign was originally a Carrib Air sign. It was covered over by a large Dr Pepper vinyl sticker that is faded and the sun has also hardened it and caused it to crack. Some of the cracks have loosened up portions of the sign and the wind has ripped them the rest of the way off. This causes small parts of the Carrib Air sign to show through.

On the lower right, it's the same deal. The Hawaiin Punch vinyl sticker has deteriorated and the CocoPine sign is still underneath.

At the top, it was a quick cover-up of the CocoPine sign by a brand new Venom Energy vinyl banner. It's even rippling in the wind a little bit. Sorry about this one being a brand new banner. It was cheap for the Fern Bay managers to put this up because the Dr Pepper Seven Up company gave it to them for free because they sell their products in the concession stands.

In this one, one sign in this Kyoto set is replaced with a Budweiser sign. I have no idea what the sign is that is getting replaced. I can't read Japanese. I assume it's Japanese.

That one straightaway needs some signs instead of just the framework for them. There's a lot of signs that didn't get sold at Kyoto!

I wonder if the coding is already in place for signs there and if some are made and named correctly, that they would automatically show up? Anyone know?
