NFS Shift 2 Unleashed

Hmmm night racing, I think that this will be the first nfs game I will buy since hot persuit 2

Quote :A bunch of new material regarding Slightly Mad Studios' Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed title has surfaced as Amazon.com now lists the title and reveals the cover art.

Amazon lists the release date as March 8 2011, giving us a rough idea on when the title will be available. Keep in mind though that online retailers are notoriously unreliable when it comes to release dates, the fact that EA has already announced a Spring release backs the Amazon date though.

Furthermore, Shift 2 was previewed in the most recent issue of the German PC Games magazine. Their article revealed some new info, stating that Shift 2 will include 140 cars, including the already announced FIA GT1 & GT3 cars as well as prototypes – It seems there will be no shortage of sports car material in the upcoming title.

The article also confirms that Shift 2 will include night racing as well as Suzuka as one of the new tracks. There’s some rather bad info too though as the article states that players can race against 15 opponents, meaning that a full simulation of the FIA GT1 & GT3 Championships would not be possible.

On a brighter note, the article mentions a new "Elite" physics mode that aims to please simulation gamers, a feature that seems to have been scrapped from the first Shift shortly before its release as revealed a few weeks ago.

Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed will include the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship & GT3 European Championship among lots of other racing content, the second Shift is due to be released in Spring 2011.

Quote from jibber :Really? You complained about the physics of Hot Pursuit, but enjoyed the physics of shift?!

Competely different game engines, physics engines and developers, just because they both have NFS in the title, doesn't mean the cars behave the same in both games.

IMO, Shift 2 should just be called "Shift 2", the NFS name means that sim fans immediately disregard it as arcade garbage.
might buy it
most likely i would get it for pc if anything.
Also notice how they think they are making the most realistic driving simulator (lol) ever?
:wow:

This looks insane.

Now I hope it doesn't suck as much as the original Shift.

Infact, I haven't bought a NFS game since Prostreet.
Good times.

They never said that.
NFS wouldn't be as bad if it weren't for the ridiculous claims, their definition or realism is far from the laws of physics.

I'm not a NFS hater I've been playing since the very first game, In my opinion they should have stuck with the underground path of extensive modifications then taking your personal riced out beast online.

I use to love working my way up the leaders boards, but every since most wanted it's taken a down hill direction.
This trailer shows a lot more gameplay at night: http://www.gametrailers.com/vi ... k-disaster-shift-2/709252

I must say, it looks pretty nice. Also, I believe that what they want for realism isn't just the physics being completely realistic. They are aiming to give more the atmosphere of being in a race car and racing against other drivers. So, don't expect to pick up this game and be blown away by it's amazing tire model or engine damage or something like that. Expect to pick up the game and become more immersed into the driving.

For you Top Gear people: If you saw that first Christmas special, it's like the difference between the Mercedes SLS AMG and Porsche GT3RS. The Porsche GT3RS is the better car for racing, in the same way GT5 and Forza are the better true simulators. The Mercedes SLS AMG in that it just puts a smile on your face even though it isn't really going fast in the same way that I expect NFS: Shift 2 will put a smile on my face even though it isn't as good a simulator.

Well, that all made sense in my head anyway.

It makes me cry...

The car or the game? I will guess the car since the game hasn't come out yet. And I'm with you there. It's a weird looking car that is. Much rather have the 458 Italia.
I'm glad they haven't focused too much on GT1/GT3 and have improved customisation options. I like the 8-spoke retro style wheels and Gold wheels on the AE86, and the inclusion of engine swaps.
Original shift would be enjoyable if it wasnt for its suicide, totally crazy, AI which would kill itself just to prevent you from overtaking.

Graphics are better than GT5's IMO
Going of those videos it looks nothing more like a full blown arcade game.
On a pc the graphics are obviously better, that goes without saying.
I meant that Shift's graphics are consistantly very good across the board, unlike GT5 where you can have a stunning ferrari running alongside a box on wheels, not to talk about the shadows...

they go on about physics and the majority of the "testing" photos they provide are with people using controllers.

this game will have to be proven to be worth me getting it, pretty disappointed with the last few nfs offerings
Shift 2 is right now my hope for a decent sim with great graphics and licensed cars and tracks.

I don't however have any hopes for multiplayer. If at all, it'll be a bigger cluster**** than LFS multiplayer.
