G27 in Ubuntu
So, a few hours ago, after much deliberation, I went ahead and ordered a Logitech G27. Worst case, I'll just have to dual-boot to make everything function properly and up to par (which I really don't want to do ... but I do love racing), but I was wondering if any of you has any experience with using that wheel in Ubuntu, and could possibly enlighten me to any issues/oddities/fixes I might encounter. I'm currently running Ubuntu 10.10, running LFS through the latest version of WINE with no wheel.
Sadly no software (wingman) for ubuntu.
You'll most likely have issues with FFB, but you might get the wheel working in the "full" mode. There is a tool for G25 which enables all the extended features which could be modified for G27. However, a kernel patch might be needed too to get things working...

Yeah, I've seen G25Manage (I think?) mentioned in a couple places, and supposedly it works well for the G27. On the other hand, I've read that some of the more recent kernel updates did wonders for FFB and peripherals, but that I might still have to tinker with that tool to separate the pedal axes and recognize all the gears on the shifter ... so I dunno. The little bit of info I've found on it is pretty particular to certain games.

I'll likely just end up partitioning and dual booting, I just don't feel like going through the hassle, lol. With a new wheel and video card on the way ... Windows, unfortunately, is the place to get the most out of'em anyways.
