MALTEX RACING TEAM (PT) - the first year
Hey guys.

This video has the purpose to resume our first year in LFS. Me and my friends bought S2 in the beginning of 2010 and there fore we have been racing each other for some time, learning how to deal with the cars, the tracks and the setups. MRTPT is not a normal team, since we usually race against each other rather than race in leagues as a team. Even in those events, we may work in a good set for the race, but once the engine starts is one for himself out there!

This video shows mostly short parts of races we did in the championships we organized, with some guest drivers ocasionally. It is not the best, since I found some flaws, but I believe it is quite fun to watch.

There are some commentaries in portuguese in some parts, which probably you won't understand...

Enjoy.

Not one single comment? Is it that bad?

It works for me not bad
Works fine here.

Uhm, first general advice, don't stick with TVDirector. It makes uber-long sequences, which makes the vid long and uneventful in the end. Try to use the shift+U mode instead. If you really want to keep with TVDirector, you could at least disable the overlays. Also, make sure you shift+F twice, so the replay bar doesn't come up(0:50).

The few sequences using shift+U weren't so great either, so here are some advices about it from squidhead:

Quote from squidhead :
  • Never let the camera go straight through an object. If it went through, you can either try the same shot again, or to edit it out during the editing process.
  • Don’t make sudden camera movements. If you want the camera to be moving, it should be in motion before you hit the record button, and it should stop after you stopped recording. If you have made such a mistake, you can edit it out later. Also don’t start turning the camera around all of a sudden. All the movements need to be fluid and smooth.
  • Don’t use standard cameras that can be found in the game, whether it’s TV view or the first person perspective. Replace TV view camera positions with your own using Shift+U, and if you would like to show what’s going on in the cockpit, go to “wheel view” and then hit Esc, go to options>view. Select draw : body, clocks and mirrors mode : real. You can adjust the camera, using the X, Y and Z offset sliders, and the pitch and rotate. This also can be used to put the camera on the quarterpanel, facing the tire for example.
  • Avoid high FOV, the less FOV, the more detail you can show
  • If you don’t know how to best show off the cars and the actions – google some official car wallpapers or refer to car movies or shows (Top gear and so on), you can see some good camerawork there.

Putting some commentaries to the vid was quite a good idea. Reminds me of one of the best LFS league vid of all times: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFgG6bTx-HU. However they are too low comparing to the music. Also, too bad they're in Portuguese(at least, I guess so), kinda puts off the international audience.
Thanks, Greybull.

In fact I'm aware of some errors I made, as those of the replay bar (which I just noticed when I was setting the video in the movie maker).

The commentaries are in portuguese, but now I'm going to do an effort for an English version of the video. The first main objective was to show to our friends how much fun we can have with LFS, in order to call some more of them to try this sim and race with us.

The director "abuse" was in fact to simulate a TV broadcast, as if our races were broadcasted live, like those F1 resumes and stuff. But I understand when you say these sequences might be boring.

Thank you very much for your advices. I will take them in consideration in my next videos...

I liked the action but didn't like the commentary very much...it's not your fault though, because it's very hard to express emotions through portuguese commentary.
