Holding shift
Hey, im new and my first problem is ... kinda lame but i want to use "shifter" setting, so car behaves exactly as i want, but every time i shift i have to hold it ! example : button1 is mapped to gear one. i want to shift up, so i press button1, but when i release it, i get neutral again.
its extremely annoying, besides, i dont have h-pattern controller, so i would like to have functional "shift up" and "shift down" actions with "shifter" setting, it doesnt seems like its possible.
And please, dont tell me to use "sequential" setting, i need manual clutch i feel like automatic clutch just ruins the game, as it takes away all that "natural" feel from an actual car, actually, the main reason i tried out this (besides great) game was to have a manual clutch (no other game supports it afaik). anyway, thanks for all support i get!
You can disable the automatic clutch in Options -> Driver, that way you can shift an H-pattern manual in Sequential mode but will still need to use the clutch (unless you rev-match, as you could with a real manual)
€: Correction, apparently you cannot rev-match in Sequential mode.

Omg !! thanks ! i think it would be much better to have automatic clutch setting in controls column instead of driver tho... but ok it works great i just tried it but i have another question, as i was tampering with gas and clutch i found out that i cant have brake assigned to button with gas assigned to axis ?!? when i set both of them to buttons, brake works as its on button, but gas doesnt make a shxx! and if i set them to axis brake doesnt work with button !! thats not good would you help again please im new and i dont know how to handle this x(
There is no way in game to do what you want.
I've tried different workarounds during my mousing years, none convincing.
1 solution: combined axis for throttle / brake. It means you will use the same axis for both, 1/2 each - this may be useable depending on your controller.
The best way to enjoy it is a wheel, preferably with clutch... second hand, ebay...

Throttle on a button can be managed, provided you play with the "button control rate" setting - this will dampen the digital inputs (it adds a ramp artificially).

i see ... that sux ! x( i will google that throttle on a button, thank you very much
Throttle on button
Sorry I can't help but you said :-

Quote : i need manual clutch i feel like automatic clutch just ruins the game, as it takes away all that "natural" feel from an actual car

and then you want to put the throttle on a button.

surely that takes away all natural feel too

Throttle ?!? no way man, throttle on a button totally takes it all away... but if i set button to brake (and gas to axis) its much better (i already has it - with glovepie+ppjoy, works flawlessly), if your just tapping the brake the effect is very similar (only in racing simulations), but thank you
