New Bike
Hello,

the reason I am writing this is because I have little-no knowledge when it comes to bikes.
Anyways, after a full summer with the bike I got last year, I've realized that with bikes, you get what you pay.
I paid 250$ for a heavy, shitty little mountain bike, and regret it every time I go to trail ride with friends, or do stunts.

What i am looking for is a nice mountain bike, preferably in the 1000-2000$CAD range (although COULD be closer to 3000 if you got me really sold on one:P). I'd like if it was a hardtail, as I trail ride and like to do stunts, as I like to do stunts also, so I need a fairly light bike.
I've always like norco bikes, as they're fairly popular around here, so if you wouldn't mind looking around in the link for a perfect bike for me, before suggesting anything else.
http://www.norco.com/bikes/mountain/
So, what I am looking for is a tough hardtail bike that can do stunts, and is great for harder trail riding.

Thanks,
zay
If you enjoy trails and djs , pls do yourself a favour and buy short trawel full suspension bike in start. Main reason because they own any hardtail on trails , you can do freeride with them and they r also awesome on djs.
And for the price you set you can get epic bike.

Heres one example:

http://www.yeticycles.com/#/bikes/4X/1/ New is around 2500 dollars and its the best you gonna get for such money. Also look for big hit or voltage , but they r abit more robust.

I'm assuming djs is dirt jumps?
If so, I wouldnt be doing any large jumps, sure a few here and there, but not often. When I said stunts, I meant bunny hops, manuals, etc.
Anyway, I've looked at you suggestions so far, and they seem reall nice, thanks alot guys, but please, keep em coming!
Edit: Like I said, I dont know much about bikes, so just pointing me to a site isn't much help, so please post the exact link to bikes. Sorry to be a bother:P

Quote from Zay :sorry for the double post, but do you guys think that this bike would be good for my needs, even though its heavy and isn't a hardtail?

Yes this bike loves trails , and you can do your so called stunts with any bike.
Just make sure you dont buy some xc shit suggested upper , because u gonna brake it on first ride.

lol

Sorry for Edit but that norco shore 3 will weigh more than 30+ lbs and be a nightmare to cycle anything but downhill as its long travel and low cost and probably does not have any lock out on either the front or the back shock i would stay well clear

Well I missreaded that and yes if he plan to cycle/pedal long distances uphill then that defo is a bad choice. But to pedal to local hill and short distances its more then fine , trust me I can say from my own experience pedaling 20kg bike uphill But yeah as Billeh pointed if you wanna pedal you gotta look for xc/am tree , but then abusing is damn limited , parts brake. Just saying from my experience and to save your money.

Was just pointing out that is all .

My all mountain 07 Teocali super (5.75 inch rear travel about the same front) is a tad over 30lbs and its a bit of a hassle uphills but it can do it awsome fun on the downs though and for trail centers round Scotland its great even done World cup downhill at Fort William.

I would aim for a Hard hitting long travel / freeride hardtail and for that budget you could really build a great bike with far better specced parts than what would be on a full susser of that price

EDIT: Yeah that Fireball looks good but the spec of the components could be better and the front forks also could be better and with a little more travel. I would go no less than 130mm as it tends to give you a slacker head angle and feel better downhill and also give you a bit more to soak up more

Thank you SOO much guys!

Sorry to say but you really are narrowing your choice down by just sticking with Norco. For that sort of money that you want to spend i would be looking elsewhere as the specs on the Norco's can be bettered from other brands
Hmm I personal think norco is prety good , but yeah you pay for brand.. For your needs described I would go for range 2/3.
Do you have any good bike shops in you area? I would be inclined to head down to one and set yourself a budget and get them to spec you up a Custom built 130mm+ Hardtail that should be under 28LBS in weight . They can also tailor it to your needs and you get to choice which parts you want/dont want .

If i had that sort of money to spend on a bike i would build it myself picking every part mysefl but if your not comfy doing that then pay a little more and get somebody to do it for you

130mm+ of front travel, yes?
Once again, thanks so much guys! really appreciate it, and yea I might go for the range, or maybe get a custom built bike.
Billeh, do you have a ballpark of how much this will cost, if I do go for a custom built?
Quote from rusty8 :http://www.go-ride.com/SPD/yet ... --80003EB8-1311870044.jsp

I think dh cow is not option here, since he plans to pedal uphill.
And custon build will cost , depending on components you gonna use. Dude just go for range , imo you got nothing to lose, its gonna serve perfect for first more serius bike.
Custom builds are for ppl who know what they want and with huge budget.
If your new to the whole mountain biking thing then a custom build might not suite beacuse to save the money you would have to build it yourself. So thinking back i think Ales_M would be right and just get one from a range .

If your stuck on Norco then the one you have listed or this one here http://www.norco.com/bikes/mountain/bc-trail/wolverine/ would be fine. . With the money you save on the wolverine you could put better wheels/forks and new groupset but i would leave that untill you have worn whats on the bike allready out

If I seen his budget right he can buy two of those and put fox forks on both.
Hardtail is the best way to step into mtb , you learn how to absorve shocks with ur legs and many more technical stuff and its also much more money frienldy.
But then again thinking logicaly , me personaly with that budget I would not want a hardtail.
