For many moons I have wanted to make a dedicated gaming room and in the past week it has started to become a reality.
One of my spare bedrooms which was initially used for drying clothes on a $13 clothes hanger is slowly being converted into a PC gaming room.
My girlfriend is moving in mid month and figured it was time to start the project
I started this last week, it's come to a pause on the racing part until I get my new living room TV and put the current 50" plasma into the gaming room for the race sims.
Here's some progress so far..
I've moved the clothes hanger to the backroom. a difficult task having it fold and buckle at nearly every foot step while constantly being told off for not first taking the clothes off the hanger and leaving behind a trail of socks and underwear, followed by a lecture about why I don't just use the line outside in the sun. Of course my excellent logic on the fact it's too far to walk was sufficient enough.
Next was to fit two desks into the room, one for Lisa's PC and one for mine, mine is still in the bedroom because I can't sleep without a movie on. it will stay here until I buy another internal hard drive for my old PC and set it up for movie watching sleep purposes.
The desks them selfs are called "blaze" which is a pretty cool name I thought and only took 7 long hours of complicated assembly manuals to complete.
The chairs, achieve executives were priced the same price each as the desks, but they're very comfy.
The TV unit which has been sitting in my other spare room for a while that I once used living back at my mums house has now been utilized. and my G27 on my old wheel stand pro I used in front of the couch was put in place for a good idea of space managment for my concept.
Lisa brought her computer over a few days later which I set up while she was at work and it was my day off. she's not happy with the speaker position I allocated despite it looking incredibly awesome.
(Please excuse the messy desk the room isn't finished yet.)
I superglued a 6 plug powerboard to the back my desk (the right one) I won't show you this as it's meant to be hidden.
After a bit of searching I found the perfect GTpro wheel stand and thank god I chose a mazda CX-7 for my company car or I would have never got it home. after much time spent abusing the wiring layout on the G27 I finally got it in and looking quite neat. A rug from my bedroom was used. I initially bought this rug to divide up my bedrooms black color scheme but I think it's put to better use having my cockpit not slide around.
I'd estimate I'm about 2 months away from completion at this stage pending my decision on what TV I want for the living room. however I will continue to update on other progressions.
