ESL UK - Important Update for LFS
HI All,

OK well maybe this needed to be in the Leagues section, but this is an important announcement I feel.

As some of you know we have been running 2 seasons now, and now its time to take the MANS step into the world of EPS. ESL UK will be running an EPS Season. EPS, what does that mean? Well it means that you will have to pay to race ( about £1.20 per month ) but the prizes are way beyond what you would get for say Karting. Prizes are as Sponsors are yet to be confirmed, but this will be public later.

Now why this announcement? Well on the 17th June, the ESL UK holds its first Lan Finals night in Birmingham. This is for CS only, but I have convinced the organiser for me to take my own PC and wheel to show off LFS to the rest of the ESL community, so they can have a go and see what LFS is all about. There is a 2mb connection there, so will be able to show online racing.

OK still you see no connection to LFS, but now this is where the connection lies With ESL UK LFS starting there EPS Season, we will have our own Lan Finals night in December of THIS YEAR.

A whole weekend of where the best of the best from England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland all gather in 1 room to battle it out, to be the 1st EPS UK Champion.

This is something I have been personally gunning for, and really happy to finally announce this to you all ( UK Drivers )

Its basically the same as they have in Germany, but for us UK drivers.

There is going to be some changes, rules, and cars and config's obviously and all this will be announced in due course. The driver limit is only 20, and there is already 10 drivers ( the top 10 from the last season automatically qualify ) so spaces will be limited. As I said, you do have to pay for it. OK, you say, why pay, there is free leagues out there. All I say, is speak to any of the ESL drivers that joined this year, and they will tell you why.

Anyway, thats it for now. I will update you all when I have more news.

Exciting time for LFS UK and for me, as I have always felt that something like this was needed in the UK for LFS.

Thanks for reading

Best Wishes

Yes sounds very interesting ,

I am the last person who would compete with such little experience and knowledge to be honest , but it definately sounds great and interesting for LFS , and you can count on me watching this closely ( or perhaps even getting there ! to watch , but i doubt it ).

Thanks

Calum
Yup season two has been a blast with a very good bunch of racers and lots of close racing

I'm on the same boat as cP, will have to see how things plan out in the build up to this event.

How about one of these in North America for once.

I'd love to see one of these here in the United States, but even if there was as much interest in LFS as there in in the U.K., transportation is a big problem, the U.S. is simply a lot bigger, and I think the cost of going to a LAN even would be prohibitive for most gamers. I've thought the same thing about a Karting event here, while it would be a lot of fun, I doubt most LFSers are going to be buying a plane ticket just of a day of karting. To quip a line from Australia, it's the tyranny of distance.
Awesome news Fordie, awesome due to the fact I somehow managed to qualify by coming 8th in the top ten!!!!.

This sort of thing is can only be good for LFS, pushing into places where it hasnt got the exposure it should have, as for it being a paid league?, well, TBH it doesnt bother me in the slightest, I will be there, just try and stop me!!.

Season 2 was probably some of the best races I have ever been in, yes I had a couple of howlers, but the ones that went well, went very well, a top bunch of blokes, and the last race was probably my most enjoyable race I have ever had.

Onwards and upwards for the ESL UK

Dan,
Ooooh, groovy. Keep me posted.

By the way, Fordie: Any further developments on that "friendly" one-off event you were hoping to set up a couple of months back? I really hope that materialises, it could be a good publicity boost prior to the EPS season.

I haven't let that idea go, its just changed a little. I will be contact those ( you know who you are ) and try get things moving. Its not going to happen when I wanted it to, but it will still happen.

But you are totally right Kev, it would open up ESL to the whole community.

I know what you mean, as I was saying the same thing about UK almost 2yrs ago.ESL Doesnt cover America so cannot happen with ESL. Maybe there is another organisation that organises races. All they need is a good game plan, commited organisers, and very good negoiators. People like Intel, Abit, and others like to sponsor these kind of events, so this is where your prize fund is from. All I can say is, if you don't ask you don't get. I asked
