I think it's ridiculousillepall
why should red bull have ANY say in things when they've been there for 2 years now? McLaren IS F1 in my mind. Not redbull! and BMW?!?!?!?!? how short of a time have they been around?

picking teams based on what country they have their homebase in doesn't seem to have any weight behind it. i think they're finding a cheesy way to exclude trouble makers and bring in "FIA friendly" teams

every press release by the FIA or Max Mosley just makes me more and more sickened and disgusted.

Comments?

Yeah I agree. There was a time when Max Mosley and Bernard Ecclestone were nothing but good for F1, but now they are digging F1 deeper and deeper into murky waters. I can't wait to see the back of them both.

Why cut it down to 6 teams only. Bernie must feel secure again now he's tied the teams in for longer and prevented a break away series (again).
the world.. came to an end today; it all started by a small group called the FIA..........
Even though it destroyed open wheel racing in North America, I wish teh F1 teams would split off.

Mosley's powermongering has gone too far

The FIA's looking more and more like some rich-prick boys' club as time goes on. All these rich grey men in grey suits cupping each others' nuts under the table with a nod and a wink appointing people to high places who don't deserve it and freezing out anyone who disagrees with the boss. It's like the Whitehouse ffs

Come on - F1 n00bs Prodrive get the nod over McLaren which has been there since the first year of wings in F1 ('68)? Bruce would be rolling in his grave. Apart from Ferrari there's not one team out there with the experience or heritage of McLaren. Nothing more than a blatant and transparently political fist-up from Max to Ron Dennis.

Would someone kick Mosley's "jobs for the boys" arse out of there, paint the Macs orange again and let's have some competition on the track ffs, plz. It's getting farcical. It's time F1 took control from the b(w)ankers and put it back in the hands of people who understand motor racing.
So the FIA are chosing teams based on nationality:

Quote :France Renault

Unless Enstone, Surrey got misplaced during a French nuclear test, then Enstone is very much in England. I've been to the factory and I can assure you no passport was required, although a degree in English country road navigation is.

Why no vote for Russia (Midland F1), or does the fact that Midland are based in Northamptonshire actually meen they are British? If they are British, then so are Renault.

This ruling is nothing more than Max Mosley's personal argument with Ron Dennis getting in the way gain, last year Max nearly quit F1 because he couldnt get on with Ron.

What I want to know is, who talked him out of quiting? Was this the deal that kept him in place? If so, what harm was Max going to do to the sport if he left that made somebody make this concession to keep him?
I can't believe what I'm seeing.

I mean, Mclaren is far from the best team but they are amongst the top like others (Renault & Ferrari) even tho their car and reliability sucks.

Seems like this is all because personal feelings (Ron & Max). F1 circus keeps spinning..
All teams should have a say really, it is in the end them that puts on the show. Haven't McLaren been in F1 for 40 years !?! that shows there dedication to the sport. The likes of Red Bull might disappear in the coming years if they don't think F1 is a good enough advertisement of their brand.

Everything in F1 is stupid now. When was the last sensible decision? Whoever is control needs a B-B-B-BITHCSLAP!!!

Quote from thisnameistaken :I agree that this is a really stupid decision, but I hope teams like Red Bull are the future of F1, rather than chronically commercial, characterless teams like McLaren.

It's a shame that McLaren have become this totally grey entity, given their heritage, but they're just such a set of dull business-minded bastards these days. More teams like Red Bull plzkthxbai.

Here here!
But surely Mclaren deserve their place...

But doesn't this give F1 some character. If all the teams were like Red Bull, then that would get boring after a while.
Go home Max! Go home to cry every time you find out some people dont like you or your ideas or express their thoughts about your silly plans. One of the stupid ideas of Mosley again, arrr.

Redbull is just bunch of hipppies. And they are after money and visibility like everyone in sports.

Look guys it doesn't seem right to me and I don't follow F1 that much, however what anyone thinks of the officials, I seem to always had problems with why did anyone give the french control over motor racing? referring here to the FIA as french?

Now while I'm not xenophobic and I am sure there are some very nice decent French ppl in the world, The french are not well known for anything good for anywhere except France are they.

Those of us in the Pacific recall nuclear testing, killing ppl and sinking ships in neutral harbours etc etc . I suggest the best way to run F! would be to give fia to another country /organisation to run then it may get better
And at the top of the FIA you find ... Brits.

The French have given the world beurocracy (rouge ribbon), hairy armpits, and matching underwear. On the international stage they continue to do whatever is most inconvenient for Britain (the international bad boys jnr. team), and they invented motor sports.

So
red tape -1
hair armpits -1
matching underwear +1
Annoying Britaibn -1/+1 * depends on point of view
Motor sports +1

I'd say they have pulled off a draw...
Plus, "The Formula 1 Monaco Big Prize" does'nt quite have same the ring to it.

To answer that question...

Midland on the verge of selling F1 team

Midland owner Alex Shnaider is on the verge of selling his Formula One team to a group of Dutch investors.

Michiel Mol, who founded the Dutch Internet firm Lost Boys, has made an offer worth more than 100 million Euro to buy the team from Shnaider. The Dutchman is already closely involved with Midland through his backing of Christijan Albers.
Put Dicky Branson in charge. He mightn't have a clue about racing but ... hang on, f--king Mosley doesn't either, so he'd be a perfect choice! And when people disagree with Dick Branson, he promotes them or buys them a hotel to shut them up

Quote from speedfreak227 :and BMW?!?!?!?!? how short of a time have they been around?

Ummmm... 6 years if I remember correctly? And not to mention their time with other teams back in the 80's. They may have only been an engine supplier until now but what does it matter? McLaren is only a chassis supplier. Plus McLaren didn't loose out to BMW (BMW is the only german-only team, correct me if I'm wrong, and its on a country basis so they have the right to claim that place), they lost out to Williams... which does sound a bit odd to me. As for Toyota loosing out to Honda, that's understandable.
Becky Rose and thisnameistaken, teams are selected by what ASN they come from.
Maybe we can get it so Max and Bernie only have one vote each, as they come from the same country.
Quote :It is not clear on what basis Williams took precedence over McLaren since FIA president Max Mosley had indicated that where there was more than one team per country, the most ‘senior’ team would be chosen.

That seems a tad strange.
I think that (all the teams) should be part of a steering committe with former world champions, ex team owners and the circuit owners.

It's gone absolutly nuts that only 6 teams have a voice.
Quote from Dygear :TBA ... To Be Accepted?

To be announced.....

i.e they hav'nt confirmed their engine supplier.
