AI question
I have a question about the AI, is it aware of moving players at all? I did some races with them and noticed that they didn't appear to be aware of me at all. When I am infront of them with nearly the entire car they just slam into me to get the proper raceline (I was driving outside it to pass them). Also they never give room for you anywhere on the track, if coming up beside them you have to go on the side of the track instead.

So is the AI aware of the player yet? Or will it come in a later patch?

Don't think they are aware of the player or even each other.

AI is one of the reasons why S2 full still isnt released. The system needs improvements badly, but the devs are working on it, im sure
The AI will be majorly improved with S2 Final. Right now it's in a pretty simple and far from competitive state that hasn't been developed further than to the "mess around with it" level, though it's very understandable as LFS clearly states it's an online racing simulator.

The AI does learn to some extent, and if you train them (let them run many many laps overnight) with a few slower cars mixed inbetween they might also improve their overtaking skills. Currently they react way too slow to the player but they atleast try to avoid obstacles on the racing line.
AI needs major improvements but that's a known fact. As someone nicely put it, AI drivers are known wreckers
There are lots of threads about AI drivers and about needed improvements, and even a poll about removing or keeping AI.

After some practice they learn overtaking quite well. My problem is that they rather take too much distance and sometimes evade into dirt where they would've had enough space.

The AI drives cleaner than most LFS drivers.

My AI are more aware of me than quite a lot of online racers ...

Well maybe that's a mini exageration. They barely know I exist until they come round to lap me.

exactly how slow are you?
Hey hey, it's hard fighting of those GTR's in the UF1000 (alteast I hope she does that ).
The AI nearly wrings tears of frustration from me every time I pull off a particularly good-feeling turn or overtake and they come up and give me a little love-tap sending me into the sand.

A couple times I thought of making highly trained AI .knw files available as a .rar package or something... Unfortunately that would require training all of them in all possible combos, which would - for lack of better words - suck ass :/

should get a group of ppl to help ya with it then..
It's true, the AI are bad drivers. They are slow. They bluntly stick to the racing line, even when you're ahead of them. They slam the brakes at odd places. They crash into you just when you're doing a good corner. They don't look when they're re-entering the track after an off.

One minor niggle is that the AI are predictable. Other than that, they're a brilliant simulation of a noob online.
